Make header link to home page and create home page
-
Hello,
I just started my 5th WordPress.com blog. I decided to use the Delicious Magazine premium theme. Here are my only two problems, and questions, so far. My blog is http://tradingplacesglobal.wordpress.com/First of all, the header does not link to my main/home page, it isn’t clickable. ?? On all my other blogs, clicking the header takes you to the home page. Can I do that in this theme?
Second, the theme didn’t come with an automatic “home” page and I need one. But when I create a new page called home, it makes itself a page link of http://tradingplacesglobal.wordpress.com/home/.
I want a default home page that just links to the main page of http://tradingplacesglobal.wordpress.com/
How do I create a home page like that? This is my only problem so far with this theme – there is no easy way to get back to the home page once you’ve left it, and the theme doesn’t make that easy navigation by default. Please help.
Thanks,
ShelleyThe blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Whether a header is linked to the main page or not is entirely theme specific although it appears like staff may have added that functionality to a lot of existing themes here since it seems far more are now linked. Whether this is a trend or not, I do not know. In general though, it is up to the theme designer.
On themes where the header is not linked, it can be done via CSS if you have the Custom Design Upgrade.

Some theme have clickable header images and some do not. You can click this link to see if anyone else using the same theme has received an answer to the same question. https://en.forums.wordpress.com/tags/delicious-magazine
Second, the theme didn’t come with an automatic “home” page and I need one.
I suggest creating a custom menu and including a custom link to your Home page in it.
Your theme is a premium theme and we Volunteers answering questions on this forum have no knowledge of how they are designed to operate. When you purchased your premium theme what came with that purchase was support directly from the theme designer in the Premium Theme Support Forum. There is a link for the specific Premium Theme support forum under Appearance -> Themes in your blog’s Dashboard, but do note that the premium theme must be active and you must be signed in as the user who purchased it in order to see it.

To have the page you titled “home” be the main landing page, you have to set it as the static front page for your site at settings > reading.

So are you saying that in order for the header to link, and the main page be the standard landing “home” page, I have to have a static front page and not the latest posts page? But if I do that, then the featured post slider won’t show up on it, right? Arghhh…..

timethief,
I tried to create a custom menu called “Home” and linking to my main blog landing site: http://tradingplacesglobal.wordpress.com/But when I tried to save it I get this message:
The slug “home” is already in use by another term???

@srseale: You can’t create a “menu” called “Home”, but you can certainly create a “menu item” called “Home”. Are you perhaps confusing “menu” with “menu items”?
