Locked Out of Website
-
Hello,
I have recently been hired by a company looking to update their website. Unfortunately, the company can’t find the individual who made the website years ago and so they have neither the username or password to login. Any help to access the website (or even to take it down so we can make a new one with the same domain name) would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
I don’t have a site with WordPress.com yet

Greetings @dgurevitch,
Please let us know the URL of that site so we can have a look and point you in the right direction of getting support.
Thank you !

Thanks for that! Since this site has paid upgrades, you can use the account recovery process to prove ownership and regain access.
If you have the transaction IDs from charges on this account, you can use the Account Recovery form to prove ownership of the site, then WordPress.com support can help you from there. You can find that form here:
https://wordpress.com/wp-login.php?action=recovery
Just fill out as much information as you have, including an email address where Support can get in touch. The transaction ID will be on your bank statement as
WordPress
followed by a letter/number code. They’ll look like this:WordPress XXXXXXXXXX
You can read more about what the account recovery process entails here:
https://wordpress.com/support/account-recovery/
Hope that helps!
