Keeping the same filename and URL

    How can I keep the same filename (and therefore URL) when uploading a revised version of a PDF file? WordPress automatically changes the filename each time (by adding 1, 2, etc.), and I can’t get round this at present. Thanks, Oliver Pickering

    You cannot. The information is stored in the database. Sometimes you may delete the original, wait a bit (not sure why) and try again and it will not add the number but it does by default. The information on the file name is stored in the database, thus it automatically adds a number to the end to differentiate the “versions” even if you are replacing the file. Those downloading it rarely pay attention to the numbers.
