Incomplete comment on page
-
Someone commented on my site but the comment was cut off with three dots. I can’t read the rest of the comment on the page but it displayed everything in the Notification. I want people who visit my site to be able to view the whole comment.

Hi,
It appears to me that you have two Customer Review pages, one where a reply may be left and another where they are published. This suggests to me that you might be copying and pasting the comments into the page editor of the latter, and that the error you mention might simply be a copying error.
Why not just display the comments that you choose to allow on the page where the comments are submitted?
1. https://bluebirddigitalprints.wordpress.com/customer-reviews/ — This is where comments are left. It has a field labeled “Leave a Reply” where a comment may be submitted.
2. https://bluebirddigitalprints.wordpress.com/customer-reviews-2/ — This page is where selected comments are displayed.

Hi,
To add to the comment above from musicdoc1, you can review the comments left by your customers in the “Comments” section of your site management. That area will show the full comment so that you can copy the complete text and paste them for display on https://bluebirddigitalprints.wordpress.com/customer-reviews-2/
In case of need, we do have a guide regarding comment management here:

Thanks @staff-95percentghost. : )
I’d been unaware of the Comments Block and Latest Comments Block.
If you’re using the Latest Comments Block in the Customer Reviews page, then it is only capable of displaying an excerpt of longer comment content. It’s either limited to a maximum number of words (20?) or characters. Short comments may be displayed in full. Longer ones are abbreviated, and terminated with an ellipsis.

Thanks for the replies.
Yes, I’m using the Latest Comments Block in the Customer Reviews page. Is there any other block I can use that will display the full comment? The comments I get on this page have a tendency to be long.

If I display the comments on the page where the comments are submitted, will the full comment be displayed on the page instead of being terminated as a result of word count?

There’s the Comments Block. I haven’t tried it, but I don’t find any indication in the support page that comments would be abbreviated.

Yes, the Discussion Settings support page covers the numerous comment settings and controls available to a site administrator, and there’s no excerpt setting. Also, I’m unaware of any theme that doesn’t display comments in full by default. Of course, as an administrator you may shorten any comment manually if you choose to.

@smithden321 your comment got stuck in spam, but it sounds like this thread is already resolved.
