I don’t have a dashboard / can’t edit which pages my posts get posted to

  • Hi there!

I’ve now spent two hours troubleshooting on how to get specific types of posts to show up on a specific page on my account. To no avail. All the help posts refer to ‘Dashboard’, which I simply do not have. I have the ‘my webpage’ in the top left corner and ‘reader’. That’s it. No dashboard, and no option to choose which types of posts go on which page. All my posts now end up in the same place, which will over time render my blog useless. I want to be able to post my short stories in one page (named ‘short stories’ in my menu), general news on one page, and tips for writing etc on another. As of now, I have a menu where I can only choose to post on one page (-> ‘set as posts page’). I am finding no way to separate which types of posts to go where, how to get a post moved to a specific page etc. And again, all the tutorials refer to ‘dashboard’ and show a completely different page which I don’t have or am at least unable to find. Please help!

  • Hi @venreise, it sounds like your tutorial may be for WordPress.org:

    WordPress.com vs. WordPress.org

Are you trying to set up category pages? If so, here’s how to go about it:

Or, you can use a Posts Block to just show certain posts from a category wherever you’d like, on any page:
