If you changed the URL of your WordPress site, it’s possible that you may have inadvertently caused a configuration issue that is preventing you from accessing your site’s admin panel. Here are a few steps you can take to try to resolve the issue:
- Check your site’s wp-config.php file: Make sure that the settings in your wp-config.php file are correct. Specifically, make sure that the values for ‘DB_NAME’, ‘DB_USER’, and ‘DB_PASSWORD’ match the credentials for your WordPress database. If these settings are incorrect, you may not be able to access your site’s admin panel.
- Check your site’s URL settings: Log in to your WordPress dashboard (if possible) and go to Settings > General. Make sure that the ‘WordPress Address (URL)’ and ‘Site Address (URL)’ fields are set to the correct URL for your site. If these settings are incorrect, you may not be able to access your site’s admin panel.
- Check your site’s .htaccess file: If you have an .htaccess file in the root directory of your site, try renaming it to see if that resolves the issue. Sometimes, misconfigured .htaccess files can cause issues with accessing the admin panel.
- Check your site’s DNS settings: If you’re still having issues accessing your site after trying the above steps, it’s possible that there may be a DNS issue. Check with your hosting provider to make sure that your domain name is properly configured and that there are no issues with your DNS settings.
If none of these steps resolve the issue, you may need to reach out to your hosting provider or a WordPress developer for further assistance.

Hi! This guide may be your best bet if changing the URL broke the site. A few of these won’t require access to wp-admin, so your host can help if needed:
