How to use other fonts for my website?
-
I’m a Chinese blogger, creating Chinese contents. WordPress is easy to use, though I find that there’re quite few fonts for me to choose in “Customize > Fonts”, especially those fonts are all lack of the support to Chinese. There’re several good open-source Chinese fonts such as Source Han Serif and Source Han Sans. How can I use them on my website?
I’m a completely noob in building a website, really appreciate for your help! The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi –
It looks like those fonts might be included with typekit. See this blog post that I found: https://blog.typekit.com/2017/04/03/introducing-source-han-serif/
These are the step-by-step instructions on using typekit.
https://helpx.adobe.com/fonts/using/add-fonts-website.htmlAnd they do have a WordPress plugin which is great news. https://wordpress.org/plugins/custom-typekit-fonts/ So, you can use that plugin to get the desired fonts. Plugins do require our business plan to have the necessary site infrastructure for plugins. Those details are at https://wordpress.com/pricing/
Write back with more question.

Thanks for your reply!
I look through those links you’ve posted, and thery’re really helpful! But I do have a question about typekit though.
It seems like typekit is a kind of HTML Script, so I guess if I want to use it, I have to edit the website’s HTML code or something like that, for it asks me to “copy this code into the <head> tag of your HTML”.
The question is, how can I get access to my website’s code? I check the “Customize” section but I can’t find it.Look forward to your further response!

Hey there!
That would not be the process to add typekit to a WordPress.com site. The only way to change fonts is via the Fonts tab in the Customizer. It’s not possible to import your own fonts. You can use the plugin that @lizkarkoski suggested to avoid that process. But again, plugins on WordPress.com requires at least the Business Plan:
We do have the option for blog language for several different east Asian languages. The options for the Chinese language are limited, but we are working to change that. You can update the blog language in the account settings:

Thanks for more details!
In this case, I would probably consider paying for a plan. Also, I would like to appreciate your efforts in supporting East Asian languages.
Hope to see a better Chinese fonts support in the future!
