How to Photo Widgets with Controlled Visibility on Block Editor
-
In the Classical Editor, I could post widgets with photo headers and text or links beneath. See a public screenshot of a sample at https://snipboard.io/HtW9lm.jpg. That appears on only one specific page. How do I do that with Block Editor?
I understand Legacy Widget is the only widget with controlled visibility. How do I post photo and text (as shown in Classical example) with Legacy Widget?

Thank you, that makes a nice little widget but how do I control visibility, as specifically stated in my title and in my post.
It now appears on all my blog pages. Not okay!

Hello there,
Please see this guide on how to change the widget visibility: https://wordpress.com/support/widgets/#widget-visibility
I hope this helps.

Sorry, that doesn’t tell me how to combine photo widget with visibility control, as stated in my title and original question.

Hello there,
Ah I see what you mean!
To dictate this only stays on one page, you would want to keep that content on the page itself.
You can create a sidebar using a columns block, or a layout block.

https://wordpress.com/support/wordpress-editor/blocks/columns-block/
I hope this is useful.

Doesn’t work.
The image part still appears on all pages.
What image block dictates for content to stay on the page itself?

Hi there!
Can you share the link to the page you’re working on so that we can take a look at it?
@aleone89 was suggesting that instead of adding the image as a widget, you add the column block on the actual page with two columns, and then add the image to one of the columns. This way, the image itself is not in a widget area, but on its own column on the actual page.We can advise more after looking at the page you’re working on so please share the link.
Thanks!

Understood! Here’s the link: https://sarahbowmansite.wordpress.com/my-bio/.
If possible, I want to add an image to the top of the sidebar, like a header. In classical editor, I could do that. See example linked in my opening post.
When you see the page, you will understand why I don’t want the content of the sidebar on the actual page itself; it’s too far at the bottom.
Does this make sense?

Yes. Thanks for the additional details.
Eventually, all themes will start taking full advantage of the block editor so the setup we suggested would work similarly to a dedicated sidebar setup. Since the theme you’re using wasn’t developed for the block editor (as most recent themes are), it probably doesn’t look exactly the same.
With that said, I’m afraid it’s possible that there are no alternatives here as the “Text” widget is no longer available and the visibility setting is only available on legacy widgets. To confirm that I’m not missing something here, I’ve asked our developers to look into it. Please give us some time and we’ll get back to you here with an update.
Thanks for your patience in the meantime!

I can definitely wait. Thank you for understanding my request and taking it seriously. This seems like a great deal of hassle, all for wanting to add one more title to an existing widget more than a week ago. (I managed to do that after five days of frustration.) I shudder at the thought of having to switch my entire blog over to blocks. As you can see, my Homepage (https://sarahbowmansite.wordpress.com/) is full of sidebars and footnotes with text and photos.

Hi there!
So I spoke to some of our developers and there’s good news! We’re working on adding the visibility option to block-based widgets. We still don’t have an exact ETA as to when that’ll become available, but when it does, you’ll have the same visibility control on block-based widgets as the legacy widgets.
Thanks again for your patience and understanding!
