  I hate your new, opaque, harder to use editor.

  How can I return to the old editor, which wasn’t broken, and worked just fine?

  Hi @michaelshannon, we’re updating the editor to add features the WordPress community has been asking for. And we’d love to make this new editor work well for you, so if there’s something specific that’s bothering you, let us know. There’s also a short video here that will walk you through the basics:

  That said, for the time being you can access https://wordpress.com/wp-admin and choose to use the classic editor in posts. But please do let us know what would help make the block editor easier for you.
