How do I get rid of iexplore.exe security pop up?

  • Whenever I go to my blog I get a pop up that says it’s a Windows Security pop up. It wants me to put in my username and password, but the username and password for my blog don’t work. The pop up says ‘iexplore.exe – The server 67.222.154.138 is asking for your user name and password. The server reports that it is from Authorization Required __.__.’

I’ve tried both my blog username and password and my computer username and password and it doesn’t work. If I hit cancel, I am allowed to continue with whatever editing or posting I wanted to do, so I’ve just been doing that. But today a friend showed me that she sees the same pop up whenever she goes to my WordPress blog.

How do I get rid of this?

    Thanks,
    Linda Kruschke

  • Hi Linda,
You have some images on your site that are causing that security warning to pop up. WordPress.com sites have “https” at the beginning now which means a secure connection to the server. If there are images on a page that start with “http” instead, then that will trigger the warning.

To fix this you can either 1) remove those images or 2) download them (if possible), upload them to your media library, and add links.

Here are the images causing the problem:

I got that list by pasting your website url into the box next to “Secure URL” on this site: https://www.whynopadlock.com/

  • Thank you! Those look like things I could just remove. Linda
