    We wish to build an event site using domain name from Go Daddy.
    1) Can we leave our domain at Go Daddy and point to WordPress site?
    2) What is cost if we transfer domain to WordPress?
    3) May only need site for 12 months. What is cost of Personal or
    Premium plan for 12 months only?
    4) What are costs after 12 months?
    5) Do these plans include free email address? If not, is email available
    for additional cost?
    6) Are website backups automatic?

    Can we leave our domain at Go Daddy and point to WordPress site?

    Yes! You can totally keep your domain at another registrar and point it to your WordPress.com site. You’ll need to use Domain Connection, which comes free with every WordPress.com plan.

    What is cost if we transfer domain to WordPress?

    If you upgrade to a yearly plan, you’ll get a free year of domain registration (applicable for the first year only). You can use that free domain credit to transfer the domain to WordPress.com without any extra cost. From the next year onwards, you’ll pay the domain registration fee as outlined here, in addition to the plan renewal fees.

    Certain domains can’t be transferred to us. Can you tell us what the domain name is? We can share the current pricing once we know more about your domain.

    The plans include free email forwarding, which isn’t quite the same as a full-fledged email inbox. You can purchase our Professional Email license for your domain.

    Are website backups automatic?

    With the WordPress.com Business plan that has hosting features enabled, we offer real-time backups and restores, which lets you restore your site to any point in the past.
