Hide Excerpt From Post Once Clicked
-
I am wondering if there is a way to make an excerpt for my site that will not appear in the actual post once the <more button> is clicked. If I use the <more> tag, it gives the look I want for the excerpt, but if I have leading text like this:
Why is that? Just click the “Read More” button below to find out.<!–more–>
I do not want that leading text to be visible in the actual post once a user clicks within the excerpt and is reading that post, as it no longer makes sense.
Not sure I am being clear, but let me know and I will try to clarify, if not.

You can customise the wording of the “more” tag. For example you could put “Why is that? Just click here to find out”.

You can customise the wording of the “more” tag. For example you could put “Why is that? Just click here to find out”.
But then once you click to the post, the text “Why is that? Just click here to find out” will still be in the body of the post.
If you go here and scroll down to the post “Sharp Mower Blades Matter!” you will see the <Read More> button. I do not have a problem with the text of the button, but with the fact that when you click to go to the post you can still see the “Just click the “Read More” button below to find out.” text.
I want to make the excerpt text not appear in the body of the post.

It helps if you divulge the site address in the first instance. Note that you are asking in the WordPress.com support forum whilst your GoDaddy site is using the WordPress.org software. What I was saying was remove “Why is that etc” from the body of the post and put it in the box instead of “Read more”. That works for me here at WordPress.com but things may work differently with WordPress.org?

No worries, no need to apologize. We are all learning and it’s easy to get confused :). Good luck!
