Help! Moving WP to a subdirectory.
-
I wanted to do as the title was and now my site isnt working. I did:
1. Change my wordpress url from mydomain.com to mydomain.com/blog/ in the General settings.
2. Moved all wp files to /blog and COPIED the index.php and .htaccess to the root folder
3. changed the root index.php to: require( dirname( __FILE__ ) . ‘/blog/wp-blog-header.php’ );
I have a static site as my homepage. My root now shows the static site, but without CSS. all internal links work just fine! But none have Css or sidebars/widgets.
Mydomain.com/blog/wp-admin is an 404 :(
Please help, how do I fix it?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

P.S. this is not about the wordpress.com blog but another site that uses the server installed version of wordpress.

Hey,
I’m afraid you’re in the wrong support forum. This one is for hosted WordPress.COM blogs, where all the blogs share a common WordPress core and access to files/plugins is not allowed.
You might find relevant help in WordPress.ORG forums, which deal with self-hosted installs of the WordPress software.

Couple things to clarify/look at:
What happens if you go to mydomain.com/wpadmin ?
Are the permissions on the new directory the same as the old directory?

When i connect via ftp there is a www folder where i put the wp files.
Do I need to put the blog folder with the wp files into the “real” root of the domain?

UPDATE: I made a spelling mistake when I updated the index.php.
I corrected it and all Blog posts and the subdirectory work fine now!
One exception: All pages cannot show their images while the blog posts can. Why is that?
