If your code involves forbidden code, it will be stripped from your wp.com blog:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/code/If you put it into a text widget, then find it does not work, it is likely that the code is not allowed.
If you like, paste the code between backticks and we can take a look at it.

it uses forms and scripts…so i guess the answer is no! maybe an option to consider modifying the standard search buttons..but i suspect that will be way down on your list of prioirities
<form action=”http://www.google.com/cse” id=”cse-search-box” target=”_blank”><div><input type=”hidden” name=”cx” value=”006581484173798137666:0fql1aqmatc” /><input type=”hidden” name=”ie” value=”UTF-8″ /><input type=”text” name=”q” size=”31″ /> <input type=”submit” name=”sa” value=”Search” /> </div></form><script type=”text/javascript” src=”http://www.google.com/cse/brand?form=cse-search-box&lang=en”></script>

It’s Javascript and the sogtware will continue to strip it out. Please see the entry Tess linked to > http://en.support.wordpress.com/code/
