Free Storage Space

$99.-/yr for a casual family blog is a bit much I think – and even the hosting services have larger storage limits – this change would not be popular at all
Agreed. However, given the behavior I see on MANY sites where bloggers fail to optimize images and resize them to fit into the spaces they intend to embed them in prior to uploading them I would not be surprised of the generous free allocation was reduced. These days blogger upload oversized images straight from their cameras.
Not me! I don’t waste my space, compromise image quality, and I don’t have to troubleshoot images.
Cropper or Proper Image Preparation?

@TT – yes I have seen many sites uploading large images – I learned my lesson the hard way some years back on another site here – just uploaded all the images from a single day – took out most of the storage in short order – I now either crop and work the image or upload only a few 3mb images (I use the site to transfer public event info and pictures to others) –
my main site is at 365mb after 6 years – some of that is PDF files and many of my articles are how to do things with quite a few edited pictures – there were some historic place-mat files so you could make place-mats using historic NOAA charts and to keep the files high quality I had to let them get a bit large so they would print 11×17 and not fuzz out the charts or maps
looking at my sites it looks like the correct 3GB is back
the new $99.- policy is an incentive over the original $20 space upgrade for people to learn proper image management

@auxclass
I am cautious and frugal.
My main site was started August 2007
currently using 207.8 MB out of 3.0 GB upload limit (7%).My other site was started April 2007
currently using 252.4 MB out of 3.0 GB upload limit (8%). -

phew, mine just reverted to normal and now shows the correct number, 24% of the 3 mb. Thanks to whoever or whatever did it! :-)

Now the only chance is to buy the premium plan or delete the files (which I don’t want to do)
Deleting images from your media library means creating broken image links in every post and page you embedded the deleted image into in the first place. https://onecoolsite.wordpress.com/2013/09/20/omg-my-images-are-gone/ I do not recommend it.

Howdy folks,
I agree that the issue must’ve been a short term glitch on our end that was resolved quickly. Apologize for the inconvenience. Let us know if any of you are still encountering issues with your storage space, however.
Thanks!
