Fix a ‘parse error’

  • I recently updated the theme of my WordPress website whilst I was trying to sort out some of the options given by the theme. Following updating though, suddenly both the website itself and even the admin page are inaccessible and give me the following error:

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ‘[‘ in /var/sites/m/mmgaming.net/public_html/wp-content/themes/agama/framework/class-agama-core.php on line 48

I don’t know how to change this because I can’t even access the themes.

The website in question is: http://mmgaming.net (just so you can see it for yourself).

Any help would be much appreciated.

  • Hi there!

You can use this solution provided by the theme developer :
    https://wordpress.org/support/topic/probleme-parse-error-syntaxe-error-sur-theme-agama/

If you can’t access Admin panel, then you can edit this file using FTP. You can refer to this tutorial for help.

    Hope this helps!

  • Hi!

Thanks for the assist. I actually had already discovered that thread and assumed it wasn’t of use to me because I also don’t have access to the Admin section of my site.

However, I have since learned (like you say) that with a parse error like the one I am experiencing, the solution usually lies in using an FTP. However, that has brought with it its own separate problems which I now need to solve first in order to solve my own problem.

Hopefully though, if I can fix those problems, then I can fix the parsing error…
