Deleting Unattached Images
-
I am wondering if we can delete “Unattached Images” from our media library to save space without affecting any of our posts?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hello,
This is possible. You will have to use the self-hosted WordPress dashboard and not the WordPress.com dashboard. Here’s how you can do that.
Open this page https://dashboard.wordpress.com/wp-admin/index.php?page=my-blogs and click on the title of the blog you referring to. This should open that particular blog’s WordPress dashboard. Click on Media > Library and you should see an option called Unattached in the first dropdown list. Choose that, bulk-select images and delete them.
I hope this helps. Feel free to get back if you have questions.

Hi there,
You can also do that via the standard dashboard by going to My Sites > Media. Select the images you want to delete and click the trash icon. Here’s a screenshot with all the steps:
If you have any other questions, just let me know and I’ll be happy to help.

Thank you both for your replies. This won’t affect any of the pictures that are already in my posts?

No. They are unattached. If they had been embedded into posts or pages then they would be “attached”.
