Dashboard style has changed

  • ~ 1 year ago I migrated my site from wordpress.org to wordpress.com

I still liked using the old wp-admin/ dashboard because I found it more intuitive, and specifically liked how I could manipulate the widgets and “park” unused ones at the bottom of the page to be used again at a later date.

Now I go to my wp-admin/ site and when I click on Widgets it takes me to the very basic widget page associated with wordpress.com that is super user unfriendly and I can’t see any of my old widgets.

This has happened in the last day or 2 only.

How can I have access to the old style dashboard?? or see my old widgets?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hello,

If I understand well, you are not happy with the dashboard experience offered by WordPress.com. Here is what you can do. Open https://dashboard.wordpress.com/wp-admin/index.php?page=my-blogs and you should see the website that you moved from self-hosted WordPress to WordPress.com.

Click on it and you will be shown the self-hosted WordPress’s dashboard view.

I hope this helps. Feel free to get back if you have questions.

  • Hi there,

If you like to manage your widgets from the WP Admin dashboard you can do so by visiting the following link:

    https://runnymedecouncilblog.wordpress.com/wp-admin/widgets.php

You can also bookmark the above link so you can get to the widgets management page quicker.

If you have any other questions, just let me know and I’ll be happy to help.
