Content Theft
-
Hi, I recently experienced content theft. The website that reposted by entry without permission, Desitnary, has no contact information. All the forums I have read say complaining to its host, Unified Layer, has been totally worthless. I don’t know what to do and haven’t read anything that says how WordPress can help me because its not hosted by WordPress.com. Anyone have ideas? Thanks so much.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

We cannot help you with any site that’s not hosted by WordPress.com. Only the web host hosting the site in question can act on a properly filed DMCA notice.

So I can still fill out a DMCA notice? I thought those were only for WordPress related issues. Okay, thanks.

I tried to file a DMCA notice, but wordpress would not accept it, as expected. How do I file a DMCA notice against Unified Layer then?

Yes file a DMCA with the host – they are required to respond to them
some of the info below is specific to WordPress.COM hosted sites – but all relevant

So…the contact information of the thief and the host are no where to be found online. I’m at a loss.

Do a whois on the domain name – that will give you the host name – file the DMCA with the host
