Claim Domain

    Hi. I had previously purchased a domain through wordpress. I used it with a redirect. However, I have just purchased the explorer plan, which gives me a year of free domain. I cannot claim it because my domain already exists and is already linked. Can the free year be applied to my 2025 renewal? (aka, can we extend my current sub another 12 months, on top of the remaining 7ish I paid for in January?)

    Hi there,

    Yes, there’s a few ways you can use your domain credit. You can either add a new domain which can be a secondary domain pointing to your primary domain here, or you can transfer a domain you have registered elsewhere here which will also add a year to the expiration of the domain, or (and this sounds like the option you prefer) you can renew your domain for a year for free.

    To do this, go from your WordPress.com Dashboard to Upgrades ⇢ Purchases, click the “Renew Now” option, then the checkout screen should come up, with the price listed as $0 because of the domain credit.
