Changing url for new free blog
-
I set up a second blog account, using the “Add” button at the bottom of the menu, but it used my user name to create the URL. I set up the title I wanted. I used this https://wordpress.com/support/changing-site-address/ to try and change the url, but it says the name I want is taken – is that because I used it in the title, or is it really in use by someone else? Thanks!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there,
What’s the address you want to use? If you’re getting such message, it might be already in used or reserved by someone else.
-
I want to use waterfallops – I tried entering waterfallops.wordpress.com to see if it it was in use. I got a page saying that it doesn’t exist, but the site name is reserved.
-
That means someone used that name for their account, and the corresponding URL is reserved for them. If that’s you, log in as waterfallops and you can create a site with it, then you can transfer ownership to your @pramclub account if you’d like.
Otherwise, would one of our free .blog subdomains work for you?

Oh and I should add, you’re also welcome to register a custom domain if you prefer, and I did notice waterfallops.com is available. You’d need upgraded hosting as well as the domain, but if you get the personal plan for one (or two) years, the first year of your domain registration is free. The plan also removes ads and opens up some monetization options:

Thanks for the help. I’ve decided to upgrade to personal and use a domain name for the first year, and then decide whether it’s worth continuing.
