Can’t seem to Disconnect Twitter acct. from Social Sharing

  • We put in a draft Twitter account for Sharing, but now it does not show on our Dashboard under Connections — and we cannot seem to delete it. What to do?

    Jetpack: Yes
    Correct account: Yes

  • Hi @fcrepublicans,

While checking Tools > Marketing from under your account, I see that the Twitter connection is disconnected. Is this what you are seeing on your end?

You may need to clear your browser cookies, as that can cause issues with what you are experiencing with the connection. For more information on Twitter Sharing, please visit: https://wordpress.com/support/post-automatically-to-social-media/#twitter

  • Yes, thank you, that’s what it looks like there — but that ‘extra’ Twitter account still shows within WordPress at the Publish step under ‘Share this post’. Publishing the post does not send that post to that Twitter account.

We’ve cleared browser cookies. We tried to add another Twitter account to the Share function, which worked. The share dashboard showed only the newer account (so did the Publish step under ‘Share this post’). We then disconnected that newer Twitter account.

Still, the extra Twitter account does not appear so that we can delete it. Except it’s still showing under ‘Share this post’ ?? Looks like we’ll need to pursue this further as a theme issue, perhaps? Thanks for the look-see.

  • Thank you. We’ve cleared the cookies, but the extra Twitter account still appears under “Publish” /”Share this Post”. Publishing the post *does not* send the post to that Twitter account. We have not seen the extra, unwanted Twitter account in the Jetpack Share settings so that we could try to disconnect it.

  • Sorry, we did not answer your question! YES, that’s what shows on the Share dashboard — nothing! No Twitter account to disconnect.

  • It may be best to reach out to Jetpack support directly, but can you also confirm whether there’s any chance you’ve got this connected through another account? It sounds like that could be the case.
