cant press a site

  • i keep getting a ‘An active access token must be used create a new Site for the User’ message when I try to open a site. I am using the tor browser so if it is not possible to set up a WordPress blog using TOR please clarify that for me. I registered a free website and when ever I try to log in it is missing. I verified the email and have access to WordPress, I just cannot start pressing a site. I have cleared cache and followed any of the threads advice shown previously and they are now marked as closed.

  • What is the URL of the site you are trying to create? Post it here now.
    Are you using TOR?

  • Hi there,

We don’t specifically support TOR, so that might be part of the problem.

I’m not familiar with how TOR operates myself, but I can tell you that error message usually means there is a problem with the cookie that tracks your login across WordPress.com pages. Does your browser allow cookies in general, and third-party cookies specifically? If not, can you add an exception for WordPress.com and wp.com? Those cookies are required for the site to work correctly.

The new admin area is also JavaScript-based, as you also mention in another thread you’ve created. If your browser is blocking JavaScript that might also be the reason for this. However, you should still be able to use the WP-Admin editor where this shouldn’t be an issue. You can reach the WP-Admin editor by clicking on Posts ->Add New here:
