Can't access widgets at all

  • Hey, I am currently trying to edit my site using wordpress, and when I enter the widget section, whatever change I make it doesn’t save. Then, when I press cutsomize and go into the footer section,
    I encounter this error:

TypeError: Cannot read properties of undefined (reading 'length')

Any idea on how to solve this? Thanks.

  • Hi @sleightush, that’s an odd one. Your site isn’t hosted with our managed hosting service, but perhaps we can give you a few ideas…

    – Clear any site cache if you’ve got that

    – Use the Health Check plugin to rule out issues with your theme and plugins: https://wordpress.org/plugins/health-check/ — that will let you switch your theme to a default (like twenty twenty one) and disable your plugins without affecting the live site. If the problem goes away, you can re-enable things one at a time til you find the culprit.

    – If the problem happens even with a default theme and no plugins, check to see if the files mentioned in your error have been modified.

From there, if you need to replace those files or get more help, I’d recommend contacting your host, or try the forums for self-managed WordPress sites: https://wordpress.org/support/forums/

Here’s the difference between that and our services:

    Hoping this helps!
