Cancellation without Confirmation

  • Good afternoon,

I contacted a Support Representative last week to inquire about available refund options, as we were considering cancelling our account. I was informed that a manual refund was requested.

I then contacted a second time to inquire about what the requested refund would entail, and whether or not the CSS would be removed.

At no point during our conversation was it confirmed that we would like the account cancelled. I’ve since logged in, and it appears the account has been reverted back to a free one. Can you please advise why the account was cancelled without notification, and what options are available regarding a partial refund?

Thank you in advance for your assistance.

  • Hello there,
    We need details please.
    1. What is the domain URL? Do you want to use the domain URL on another site?
    2. What is the underlying .wordpress.com URL?
    3. Exactly which username account registered the underlying .wordpress.com blog and purchased the upgrade for it?
    4. When was the upgrade purchased?
    5. If applicable, when did the refund request and upgrade cancellation take place?

    re: Refunds
WordPress.com provides a 30-day refund on all upgrades except Domain Registrations, Domain Renewals, and Guided Transfers. The refund period for Domain Registrations and Renewals is 48 hours. It takes from 1 – 2 weeks or 10 business days for the refund to be received.

    re: Canceling upgrades
Every WordPress.COM blog has a sole owner. It is the person with the WordPress.COM username account who registered the blog under that username account and a single associated email address, and who is the original Admin of the blogs registered under that username account.

You have to be logged in as Admin http://en.support.wordpress.com/user-roles/#administrator under the exact same username account that registered the blog to access the blog’s dashboard, cancel any upgrades, claim a refund for any qualified upgrades, and disable auto-renew. Dashboard > Store > My Upgrades. You can also disable auto-renew there. http://en.support.wordpress.com/my-upgrades/#canceling-upgrades

If you are not logged in under the correct username account then clear your browser cache https://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/#clearing-your-browser-cache and cookies https://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/#clearing-wordpress-com-cookies prior to logging into another account

If you do not have the required access you need to contact the person who registered the account and site under it and have them transfer the sites to your username account by using this process. http://en.support.wordpress.com/moving-a-blog/#transferring-your-blog-to-another-user-or-account

  • Hi @shackmanassociates, our chat transcripts show you did confirm the cancellation prior to opening another chat where you mentioned you might not want to cancel, however the cancellation was already in the works by then. Let us know what you’d like to do.
