Bushwick Theme Samples ?
-
Can anyone link a few sites using the new Bushwick theme ? I’m interested in its font and color versatility, and how the photo layout options are being utilized. ~ I currently have a writing blog using Chateau, which I endorse, but am intrigued with the vertical banner and excerpted quote features in Bushwick. ~ Namaste.

There are no example sites listed on the theme’s showcase page http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/bushwick/ and normally the easiest thing would be to search Google for the footer “Blog at WordPress.com. The Bushwick Theme by James Dinsdale.” but I’m not getting any returns. Seems a bit odd with over 24K sites using it here!
I’ve tagged this for Staff input, so please stay tuned!

I took a peek at the blogs using Bushwick — here are a few that stood out. (We’ll also be sure to update the showcase page with some of these examples.)
http://annaandsusannah.org/ — nice use of color to really change up the feel of the theme.
http://havenmagazine.org/ — changes up the fonts and layout a bit
http://kadyhobbins.com/ — uses lots of different image layout options to lovely effect
http://things-that-matter.net/ — takes advantage of the vertical banner for big impact
http://glorelysmoraliz.com/ – simple and bold
Hope this helps you make a decision!

All of those are blogs own their own domains. Some have the annually renewable custom design upgrade as well. Is there a list of Bushwick theme blogs that are do not have the annually renewable custom design upgrade that we Volunteers can use in cases like this please? If there isn’t one, then will Staff be answering these types of theme queries here on the support forums in the future? -

tt, the vast majority of sites featured on theme showcase pages are those which have their own domain.

Yes I noticed that. I used Google search for the footer credit link string:
Blog at WordPress.com. The Bushwick Theme by James Dinsdale. site:wordpress.com Check out the results. In the past the search results were productive as they brought up a variety of blogs on .wordpress.com sub-domains. Now they aren’t. -
Something at Google must have coughed up a furball because that’s far better than the results I got this morning when I posted about this above. :)

Really? I have found that using Google for WordPress.com searches has become progressively less useful over the course of these last 6 months. Of course Staff blogs and the support docs are are at the top of the SERPs – that’s SEO for you – oh well.
Check out the Bing results for the same search string.

@timethief, thanks for sharing those results!
@moiracampbell, you’d mentioned being interest in color/font versatility, hence the more customized suggestions, but I do encourage you to take a look at those search results as well — lots of folks doing interesting things with images in that vertical space.

So happy I tagged this for Staff; This has been an interesting exchange on an interesting theme!

I located the Bushwick theme before it was announced and began to use it on the blog I intended to use for the zero to hero challenge. However, there were issues I posted about on January 3rd and by the time they were fixed on January 13th I had already closed that site to public view and had thrown in the towel re: the challenge.
