Automatically uploading hotlinked images in post to library?

    I have a number of posts with hotlinked images in them (that is, images that are externally hosted on another server). Rather than manually upload the images to my WordPress.com site and changing the link in the post so that the image link in the post now points to WordPress’s server, is there a way to automatically do it or a faster way? I have access to the API in case there are suggestions. I could’ve sworn that in the past when I submitted similar posts that WordPress automatically did the conversation. Thanks.

    @jasonqng – Could you let me know what blog you’re referring to? I don’t see any images currently on jasonqng.wordpress.com.
