2 step authentication
-
I’ve been with wp for over a decade…I’m not a paid subscriber but I need to I set up 2 step auth. I really don’t want to hang on to those in my files and have to retrieve them every time I log in, plus I really don’t think I will have access to those codes for another decade, but I’dneed them to log in and get new ones. Can we just do sms or email like everyone else? If I deactivate the 2 step it says I’ll lose my passwords. Please help.

Hi there,
SMS is an option for two-step authentication:Your WordPress.com site is your home on the internet, and you want to keep that home safe. Hopefully, you’ve already chosen a unique and hard-to-crack password for your account. To add another layer of home security, you can enable two-step authentication. What is Two-Step Authentication? Two-step authentication is a method of securing accounts requiring that you know something (a passwordWe just recommend app over SMS because certain apps and providers block SMS messages, so sometimes it may be difficult to receive the message at times. However, SMS can be set up via the instructions above. I recognize it’s a hassle to keep up with them, but I definitely recommend downloading/screenshooting the backup codes just in case.
Hope this helps.
