Community Pool

Where WordPress bloggers support each other with feedback and advice.

Have you just published a new post and are dying for some feedback? Are you redesigning your blog and could use some layout or design advice from your more seasoned peers?

The Community Pool is for peer feedback and advice. Looking for more specific information? Check out some of these resources:

Tap into the wisdom of The Daily Post blogging community and leave your question here in the comments. Others can then click through and offer input either on your site, or in the comments here (feel free to indicate which you’d prefer).

Looking for more information about custom domains, advanced design options, and other enhancements for your blog? Find the WordPress.com plan that’s right for you.

Are you a new blogger looking to share your very first post? We have a special forum for bloggers just like you in our weekly First Friday posts.

To help us make the Community Pool a productive space for discussion, here are some tips and guidelines you might find useful:

  • While you’re not required to, we encourage everyone who requests feedback to also reply to at least one or two other bloggers who need some help. Spread the love!
  • The Community Pool comments section can get quite big — and starting duplicate threads doesn’t help. Thanks for not posting the same question more than once, as well as for not starting numerous threads in a single Pool.
  • If you’re looking for quality feedback, be as specific as you can. Questions about a particular post tend to draw more comments than ones about entire blogs. Questions about specific design elements are more likely to be answered than ones asking for general layout advice.
  • We discourage leaving links without a more substantive message or question. These are often overlooked by other bloggers, and we frequently remove them to make the comment reading experience smoother. Also note that including multiple links in your comment might automatically put it in the moderation queue, which will delay its publication.
  • Please keep all comments civil and constructive. The idea is to have fun — it’s a pool, after all!
  • To keep from losing your place in the comment thread while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on a link to open it in a new tab or window.
  • If you haven’t looked at our Commenting Guidelines in a while, now might be a good time.
  • No running on the deck.

  1. Hello, People of the World!

I write book reviews and offer anecdotes from my life on my blog. I write to find other humans and I write to put my thoughts out there in order to create a voice through words. Writing is power to me and reading is a response I have to what authors have written.

It’s taken me a long time to be able to think this way and here’s how:

    Thank you for reading!!!

    1. Hi, I had a quick look at your page and had two quick tips. I am a total newbie too, so not sure if these are actually helpful :p
      1) try to limit the amount of text people can ‘preview’ from you homepage. At the moment I can read your whole article without actually opening is… It is a bit confusing on the homepage and limits your click rate.
      2) I always prefer a longer article to start with an introduction in bold or a larger font size and maybe put a quote or picture somewhere in the middle. That way is seems less long…
The article I read (https://pureutopian.wordpress.com/2018/05/02/empowering-the-youth-in-india/) was interesting!
      Hope this helps 🙂
      Cheers

    1. Loved the end quote and the title. One thing that is sometimes useful is to have sub-headings to break up the text and give it structure. Keep it up!

      1. Great blog! I love your layout. Your articles are a good length, not too long nor too short and the headings really break it up and make it super easy to read. The advice you are giving is spot on. I plan to go home and pull out the old fad items that I have in my closet and focus more on the statement pieces like you suggested!

  7. Hey guys, this is something I had begun writing on World Autism Awareness Day (2 April) but wasn’t able to complete it. I was finally able to finish it up and thus this post right after a month.
This poem is my take on what could be on the mind of an autistic child. Special as they are, a glimpse of the parent’s love for such a child is what I’ve tried to depict. Do have a look and let me know of your views.

  8. Hello Bloggers, hope the writers-block has passed!

I started blogging 6 months ago and have thoroughly enjoyed it as a way to examine ideas a bit more deeply and develop my own. However, I had hoped it would become more of a discussion, rather than just me blogging, than it has.

I would love any comments/criticisms/ideas/challenges you may have on the blog post itself or how to create more of an environment for discussion.

This was my most recent one on ‘The Two-Faced-Book’
