Community Pool

Where WordPress bloggers support each other with feedback and advice.

Have you just published a new post and are dying for some feedback? Are you redesigning your blog and could use some layout or design advice from your more seasoned peers?

The Community Pool is for peer feedback and advice. Looking for more specific information? Check out some of these resources:

Tap into the wisdom of The Daily Post blogging community and leave your question here in the comments. Others can then click through and offer input either on your site, or in the comments here (feel free to indicate which you’d prefer).

Looking for more information about custom domains, advanced design options, and other enhancements for your blog? Find the WordPress.com plan that’s right for you.

Are you a new blogger looking to share your very first post? We have a special forum for bloggers just like you in our weekly First Friday posts.

To help us make the Community Pool a productive space for discussion, here are some tips and guidelines you might find useful:

  • While you’re not required to, we encourage everyone who requests feedback to also reply to at least one or two other bloggers who need some help. Spread the love!
  • The Community Pool comments section can get quite big — and starting duplicate threads doesn’t help. Thanks for not posting the same question more than once, as well as for not starting numerous threads in a single Pool.
  • If you’re looking for quality feedback, be as specific as you can. Questions about a particular post tend to draw more comments than ones about entire blogs. Questions about specific design elements are more likely to be answered than ones asking for general layout advice.
  • We discourage leaving links without a more substantive message or question. These are often overlooked by other bloggers, and we frequently remove them to make the comment reading experience smoother. Also note that including multiple links in your comment might automatically put it in the moderation queue, which will delay its publication.
  • Please keep all comments civil and constructive. The idea is to have fun — it’s a pool, after all!
  • To keep from losing your place in the comment thread while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on a link to open it in a new tab or window.
  • If you haven’t looked at our Commenting Guidelines in a while, now might be a good time.
  • No running on the deck.

  1. Hello to all the readers and writers out here!

I finally reached the milestone of 800+ supporters! I recently published a post celebrating it. As celebration, I’ve asked my readers to ask me questions they would like me to answer! If I get enough questions, I’ll do a Q&A (Question And Answer) post so that other bloggers can know know me better! If you, too, have any questions make sure to leave them here or in the comments section on my post!

Huge huge HUGE thanks to all my dear readers! Read the post to know how grateful I am!

Here’s the link to my post:

So So Grateful For 800+ Supporters!! + CALL FOR QUESTIONS!

Let me know what you think about my blog!

    Happy blogging!

    1. I like your blog content very much! I think you’d benefit from going through your settings and switching your blogs to post as excerpts. It’s confusing to see where one begins and another ends. If they’re posted as excerpts a lot more posts are visible for people to browse easily. You can change that easily via your customizer- under blog content.
I’m interested to see your future posts but there’s no way to like or follow. Under ‘my sites’ (where you can see your stats) go to ‘sharing’.
Go to ‘Sharing buttons’ and then ‘manage’
Go to ‘Reblog’ and ‘like’ – you can choose to highlight them or not so that they appear on your posts – or not !!
While you’re there, scroll down to ‘Configure’ and go to ‘Settings’.
Scroll down to Discussion and check ‘allow comments’ ‘send pingbacks’ and ‘receive pingbacks’. These will notify you when someone tags you and also notify others if you tag them – very useful!

    2. Very interesting blog, I think it’s a great idea to share your struggles and experience. Putting this information out there can help people understand what it’s like to grow up in an environment like that, and help others going through it feel like they’re not alone. Keep it up! 🙂

  3. Tabeer- A colloquial interpretation of dreams!

“In each of us there is another whom we do not know. He speaks to us in dreams and tells us how differently he sees us from the way we see ourselves”

    -Carl Jung

During a ‘Spiritual crisis’ man senses a need for a self reflection. He eagerly looks for the answer both on the outside and inside.

Dreams remain like the nostalgic fragrance of what it was like being you and also it marks the milestone of how far we have come on the journey of individuation.

The dreams are full of subtle messages, symbols and self introspective qualities!

Let us explore the native tribe of dreams and immerse ourselves into understanding what dreams mean to our spicie as a whole!

Do give your feedback and views:)

    Happy intellecting❤🍻

  4. Hi everyone! It has been a while for me posting and sharing, so excited to check every ones posts out. I just got a new post up today that I would love feedback on… It is a different writing approach using a little story telling and life experience. The focus is on growing and building resilience in life. Please let me know what you think! https://inspirememompage.wordpress.com/2018/03/26/all-the-stories-lead-to-this-one-to-grow-in-resilience/

  5. Can anyone help with photographs? Mine are high definition and taken on a good camera, but when I post them they come out out grainy and poor quality. I have reduced the size on some posts because when I’ve added the full size photos they don’t all upload. Any help appreciated!

    Liked by 3 people

    1. I would have thought reducing the size yourself before you upload them would help. It should also help with SEO/page loading speed for your site.

I am not sure the best size though. I reduce mine to 1000 px (ish) but i could probably even go a little smaller. I’d be interested to hear how small other people make theirs!

    2. There are times that WP has driven me nuts when trying to upload photos!
I think, but don’t know for sure, that poor WiFi and/or internet connections are often the cause of the problem. That said, the source file can also have an effect, do you post raw files or jpeg for example?
I know that this probably isn’t a bunch of answers, in my case I just sort of settled for a midway point that I’m happy with, definitely a compromise.
That said, I thought that your photos looked just Fien to me.

      1. Thanks, Dookes! I’m just uploading normal photos. The ones I’ve sourced from Unsplash look fine, but if I add my own photos to Photo Friday or Monday Montage, the quality is quite poor.

  8. Hello folks! So, I’ve just posted to my blog, which I started in January and have just recently brought back out of hibernation. The post is at this link: https://celestemillerauthor.wordpress.com/2018/03/26/promises-promises-my-love-affair-with-planning/

I feel like I know what I want to do with my blog (being making it a place to chronicle my trip through starting up as a side freelance writer, within full-time life), but being a bit of a blogger novice with just a bunch of on-again-off-again dabbling over the years, I’m not sure if my style and vocab are the right fit to get and keep readers, and if my tags will do the job to make it properly searchable.

For whoever has the time, here’s my questions: Is the format (text without pictures, and its length) in line with what works for readability these days? Are the tags precise enough to make it searchable for the writing/freelancing/blogging interested parties? Are there catch words (from the somewhat mystifying SEO universe) that I should be using to make my blog come up in searches more readily? Any feedback much appreciated!

    1. I browsed kind of quickly, stay at mom to a 1 and 3 year old here and right now its chaos in my house. I think your website is well put together and the one post I did read was well worded and explanatory. I liked the simplicity and accessibility as well.

    1. Hello josypheen! Heh, I might not be the best person to answer since I’ve already wanted to visit NZ for years and years (beginning with a childhood love for Lord of the Rings, admittedly 😛 though growing from there), but your post, with its beautiful pictures definitely made me want to visit all the more. If I have my way about it, I’d make a month-long trip out of it some day! Just so beautiful 🙂 well done

I love yours too…although I have to admit sometimes when I see your posts have no idea that the word of the day was british! I just think of them as good words!!

I think that’s one of my favorite parts of the blog in general…finding out certain words are British on top of being cool lol! So thank you!

      1. I had a good look. I love your content 😊
I would suggest an about page. Tell us a little about you, why you’re blogging and what your blog will be about. It’s a taster, a teaser to get people to look deeper. Have a look at others about me pages and find what works for you but bear in mind, it’s the first thing a lot of people look for so make it work 😊
I couldn’t see like or follow buttons at the end of your posts. Those are pretty much essential. You want to make it as easy as possible for people to like, comment and follow you.
Go to your my sites button (where you can check your stats) Scroll down to ‘Configure’ and go to ‘Sharing’ then ‘sharing buttons’. Check ‘reblog’ and ‘like’.
Also go to ‘Settings’,scroll down to ‘Discussion’ and check ‘allow comments’ ‘send pingbacks’ and ‘receive pingbacks’. These will notify you when someone tags you and also notify others if you tag them – very useful!
If you change your posts to show as excerpts on your home page the layout will look much better and people can instantly see and click on individual posts. You can do this in your customized under blog content.
        I hope this helps 😊
