Where WordPress bloggers support each other with feedback and advice.
The Community Pool is now five years old! To everyone who’s helped it grow and become such a thriving, friendly space for our blogging community: thank you!
Have you just published a new post and are dying for some feedback? Are you redesigning your blog and could use some layout or design advice from your more seasoned peers?
The Community Pool is for peer feedback and advice. Looking for more specific information? Check out some of these resources:
- Learn, a series of step-by-step tutorials for those just starting out.
- All our posts on building an audience and growing your traffic.
- If you’re stuck for inspiration, here are our Daily Prompts and other ideas for writing topics.
- A roundup of posts on blogging etiquette.
Tap into the wisdom of The Daily Post blogging community and leave your question here in the comments. Others can then click through and offer input either on your site, or in the comments here (feel free to indicate which you’d prefer).
Looking for more information about custom domains, advanced design options, and other enhancements for your blog? Find the WordPress.com plan that’s right for you.
Are you a new blogger looking to share your very first post? We have a special forum for bloggers just like you in our weekly First Friday posts.
To help us make the Community Pool a productive space for discussion, here are some tips and guidelines you might find useful:
- While you’re not required to, we encourage everyone who requests feedback to also reply to at least one or two other bloggers who need some help. Spread the love!
- The Community Pool comments section can get quite big — and starting duplicate threads doesn’t help. Thanks for not posting the same question more than once, as well as for not starting numerous threads in a single Pool.
- If you’re looking for quality feedback, be as specific as you can. Questions about a particular post tend to draw more comments than ones about entire blogs. Questions about specific design elements are more likely to be answered than ones asking for general layout advice.
- We discourage leaving links without a more substantive message or question. These are often overlooked by other bloggers, and we frequently remove them to make the comment reading experience smoother. Also note that including multiple links in your comment might automatically put it in the moderation queue, which will delay its publication.
- Please keep all comments civil and constructive. The idea is to have fun — it’s a pool, after all!
- To keep from losing your place in the comment thread while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on a link to open it in a new tab or window.
- If you haven’t looked at our Commenting Guidelines in a while, now might be a good time.
- No running on the deck.

Hi all! I’m still REALLY new to this and slowly muddling my way through. I thought I’d share my first post to see if I can get any feedback. I think this is the right place…It won’t be to every persons liking but then not many things are.
Thank you for your time!

That’s a sad post , you need help and your daughter too or she’ll ruin her life more than yours

Thank you for your comment. I was looking more for feedback regarding my post and not my actual life though. My posts will indeed express all types of emotions. Some may be hard for people to read and some people may not understand. That’s ok though.

Well I believe that your blog is ok. You’ll find readers that’s for sure. But on the other side, you need help. (With all due respect) your daughter needs discipline and you need to get fitter and more authoritarian. Can’t you send her in a boarding school? Maybe it’s a little far from you or expensive but there are some religious boarding schools who might help you and her. You’ll have some time for yourself to start afresh and she’ll have the discipline she needs. You can’t go on like this, she might end up a drunk, punk, or God knows what.
If you’ll want to talk about it, I’ll be glad to help

I’m still getting used to using this and hadn’t even noticed your reply until just now.
Ah see now this is where you see the other side of the spectrum. My blog portrayed all my anger and frustrations of motherhood. Our relationship is very much one of love and we are a team. I don’t turn to alcohol any more and she never knew I did. I don’t comfort eat so much (I’ll always struggle) and I’ve lost quite a bit of weight already. Our team is unorthodox as I was a youngish Mum and her father was just not really there even though he was. He was useless and never wanted to spend time with us. So we have been joined at the hip and it had started to become unhealthy.
I have started afresh and we relocated and I actually have all my family around me now and they are an awesome support network.
I guess what I’m trying to say is even though my post seemed awful and it IS how I feel on the inside it doesn’t mean that I don’t cope physically. It’s more crippling from the feelings expressed in the post. Sometimes I feel very guilty. But like most mums I do my best and then some.

I understand. I wish you all the luck. If still she can’t be what she’s mean to be, send her for a few months in a boarding school, just to let her know that you’re not kidding. She’ll come out ok.

I’d like to invite everyone to come by and check out my poem, “Dire Wolf.” My first poem written in 2018, and first new poem in a while. The inspiration came from listening to Coast to Coast A.M. in the wee hours of the morning on a freezing night. Comments and feedback are always welcome, and please leave them in the comments section of the post page, and click the like button on the post page. If you like what you see, feel free to browse around, and follow along so you don’t miss anything as I post several times a week. Thanks in advance.

Hi all, my latest post is on some of my favorite classical pieces for piano. My blog is mostly to spread information (and promote what I love), but this post has some hints about my personal life. My question to you is this: what are your thoughts on that? Is it appropriate to share what I’m going through personally even though my blog is information-based?

Hi, nice layout, although you need to check under the beauty category as it doesn’t quite sit correctly when viewing on a laptop, there seems to be cut off articles in that view. Keep up the good work and good luck sticking to your blogging schedule..

Hello, l like the layout and the colour scheme, very eye catching. My suggestion would be that in your drop down “Categories” some items are capitalized and some arent, make it consistent. Good luck!

I’d like to invite everyone to come by and check out my poem, “Still Night.” I work nights, getting home after 3 A.M. My latest post is a trip report on Belgium (Brussels and Bruges), please take a look when you can. http://pearlgreyblog.wordpress.com Any thoughts on whether a domain name increases site traffic? I’m considering it but not sure if it’s worth the investment. Also, happy 5 years to Community Pool!

I’ve been thinking about getting a domain name too. It’s a big decision but I think that I will eventually get one because I feel that my blog will be taken more seriously and feel more like my own.

And for me getting my own domain name did not increase my traffic, but that’s probably my own fault 😛

Oh I see, thanks. I think engaging with the community makes more difference than the domain though that probably also helps

Yes exactly 🙂 I’m not quite sure if I’m gonna go back to having a wordpress hosted domain or not. It’s not like it’s that expensive but the money could always be used on different things

Hi everyone! I am a wildlife blogger. My purpose is to put a little wildlife into people’s lives, show how accessible nature is and maybe get people a bit more engaged with the nature around them. My blog is doing well, I have lots of followers. I have noticed that engagement through comments and/or social media has dropped recently. Any advice on lifting levels of engagement with our community would be much appreciated. The link to my January post is below:

I’d like to invite everyone to come by and check out my review of the WWE Network and how I’ll be incorporating what it offers into a new batch of reviews. I was a huge pro wrestling fan, old school, so I’ll be taking a look at actual wrestling related content long before the term “sports entertainment” existed. Aren’t all sports entertainment anyway? Hi. I posted in the Community Pool last week for the first time and received some nice feedback regarding my site – I was working on updating it and changing the layout. So thank you!
Since then I have written a couple of blogs that are a different style of writing than what I usually write for my blog. If you wouldn’t mind reading like my last 3-4 posts and letting me know which style works better for you – like captured your attention, and made a point clearer or a message clearer, that would be helpful and very much appreciated.
