Community Pool

Where WordPress bloggers support each other with feedback and advice.

Have you just published a new post and are dying for some feedback? Are you redesigning your blog and could use some layout or design advice from your more seasoned peers?

The Community Pool is for peer feedback and advice. Looking for more specific information? Check out some of these resources:

Tap into the wisdom of The Daily Post blogging community and leave your question here in the comments. Others can then click through and offer input either on your site, or in the comments here (feel free to indicate which you’d prefer).

Looking for more information about custom domains, advanced design options, and other enhancements for your blog? Find the WordPress.com plan that’s right for you.

Are you a new blogger looking to share your very first post? We have a special forum for bloggers just like you in our weekly First Friday posts.

To help us make the Community Pool a productive space for discussion, here are some tips and guidelines you might find useful:

  • While you’re not required to, we encourage everyone who requests feedback to also reply to at least one or two other bloggers who need some help. Spread the love!
  • The Community Pool comments section can get quite big — and starting duplicate threads doesn’t help. Thanks for not posting the same question more than once, as well as for not starting numerous threads in a single Pool.
  • If you’re looking for quality feedback, be as specific as you can. Questions about a particular post tend to draw more comments than ones about entire blogs. Questions about specific design elements are more likely to be answered than ones asking for general layout advice.
  • We discourage leaving links without a more substantive message or question. These are often overlooked by other bloggers, and we frequently remove them to make the comment reading experience smoother. Also note that including multiple links in your comment might automatically put it in the moderation queue, which will delay its publication.
  • Please keep all comments civil and constructive. The idea is to have fun — it’s a pool, after all!
  • To keep from losing your place in the comment thread while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on a link to open it in a new tab or window.
  • If you haven’t looked at our Commenting Guidelines in a while, now might be a good time.
  • No running on the deck.

  2. Writing my next blog post on the section of parenting where kids are to be made comfortable with their parents (especially in teenage years). To successfully write a relatable tract, I’ll need your honest answers on the following questions (please no vague answers)-

    1. What expectations do you have from your children (academic and socially-related)?
    2. What restrictions do you place on your children?
    3. Are your children open and comfortable in speaking to you?
    4. What do you not like most about your children (if it’s something not related to this topic then you can refrain from disclosing)

Please do answer, either here or private message it as these inputs are vital for the next post.
Over 10 teens have also been spoken to regarding similar questions but in their eyes.

    Thanks!

    1. Hi Amaan, I briefly viewed your blog and I really liked your efforts. I wish you the best and hope you will keep on writing.

P.S. Would have loved to answer your survey questions but that is a totally undiscovered territory for me as I don’t have kids and am unmarried. 🙂

  3. Hi bloggers from around the world!

About: A short story which I am presenting in an e-book format – free

Some time ago, I had written a short story and published it on my blog. To make it easier to read, I have converted it into an e-book which is compatible for mobiles as well as computers.

Would be really glad if you download it and read it. The story is named ‘The Shattered Plate’. You can find it here on my blog

  4. Hi all, I’m a new blogger and enjoying it so much. I’ve completed my Fundamentals course and now keen to take my site onto the next level. My blog is humourous and I think it would benefit from an illustrated header, but have no idea how to go about it (I think my brain is on overload!) Any suggestions much appreciated.

I will be writing a little bit about everything but mostly about my life with mental disorders and about other people I know with disorders. I’ll be writing some nonfiction stories sometimes too. 7. hello wordpress fellas! 🙂
newbie blogger here……my blog may be clogged up with depressing material but my motto is that we should feel the pain that we so easily bury inside us instead of experiecing it, that leads up to permenantly damaging us…. so my theory is in order to lessen the pain you need to feel it….
i hope you will give my blog a chance 🙂

  9. Hello, I would like some advice. Sometime ago, I asked for some feedback from others about my blog, and one person said they were disappointed with the grammar of my short story posts. I thanked them for being brutally honest with me and my writing. But after I said that, they seemed to think I hate them. What should I do next? Should I apologize for saying that, or is it their fault?

    1. That’s a tough question. I’m not sure it’s a matter of fault. Sometimes, it’s easy to misinterpret a person’s words when we don’t have vocal tone and facial expression to give us clues about intent. If you are concerned about their reaction, you could send a short reply stating how you have used their feedback to make improvements in your posts. https://gracelead.co

    2. Hello Blogging Detective,

If you think the other person may have misinterpreted your tone, it’s never a bad idea to clarify your intentions so that they know you appreciated their feedback.

Otherwise, since it sounds like an ultimately civil exchange, it’s also fine to let it go, move on, and learn from this for future exchanges — since we’re using a written medium where the other person can’t see your gestures or facial expression, nor hear your voice, it never hurts to write with as much empathy as possible.

  11. Hello everyone. I have been Blogging for a year now, and I have watched The Little Blog That Could grow a little at a time throughout the last year. I recently wrote an open letter to the Leaders of the World and put it in my #TuesdayTreasureSeekers for this past week. I would love some feedback, but even more importantly, I am looking to get the message out as far and wide as I can. So if you have a few minutes, I am going to share the link here. It is a plea for world peace.

Thank you for reading, and also for sharing if you choose to do so.
