Community Pool

Where WordPress bloggers support each other with feedback and advice.

Have you just published a new post and are dying for some feedback? Are you redesigning your blog and could use some layout or design advice from your more seasoned peers?

The Community Pool is for peer feedback and advice. Looking for more specific information? Check out some of these resources:

Tap into the wisdom of The Daily Post blogging community and leave your question here in the comments. Others can then click through and offer input either on your site, or in the comments here (feel free to indicate which you’d prefer).

Looking for more information about custom domains, advanced design options, and other enhancements for your blog? Find the WordPress.com plan that’s right for you.

Are you a new blogger looking to share your very first post? We have a special forum for bloggers just like you in our weekly First Friday posts.

To help us make the Community Pool a productive space for discussion, here are some tips and guidelines you might find useful:

  • While you’re not required to, we encourage everyone who requests feedback to also reply to at least one or two other bloggers who need some help. Spread the love!
  • The Community Pool comments section can get quite big — and starting duplicate threads doesn’t help. Thanks for not posting the same question more than once, as well as for not starting numerous threads in a single Pool.
  • If you’re looking for quality feedback, be as specific as you can. Questions about a particular post tend to draw more comments than ones about entire blogs. Questions about specific design elements are more likely to be answered than ones asking for general layout advice.
  • We discourage leaving links without a more substantive message or question. These are often overlooked by other bloggers, and we frequently remove them to make the comment reading experience smoother. Also note that including multiple links in your comment might automatically put it in the moderation queue, which will delay its publication.
  • Please keep all comments civil and constructive. The idea is to have fun — it’s a pool, after all!
  • To keep from losing your place in the comment thread while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on a link to open it in a new tab or window.
  • If you haven’t looked at our Commenting Guidelines in a while, now might be a good time.
  • No running on the deck.

    1. I honestly only post about once a week, whenever I make a new blog post, I share it on Facebook for my friends and family to see, and instagram for the same reasons. But I’m not really gaining any followers, so I have no advice in this area. *shrug*

      1. I definitely post on my social media when my post is published. I have them all linked to post automatically when a new blog is published. I also shamelessly post in a ton of communities on Google plus. I want to know how people get thousands of views a day! I know it won’t happen overnight, but I am eager lol.

      2. I can totally understand the feeling, as I know that sometimes I get that itch to see big numbers on my stats page. But sometimes it is nicer to even make one meaningful connection every once in a while, than to just see a bunch of anonymous numbers on a statistics chart.

  1. Hi party people,
My blog is “Lost Greetings” which features weekly posts of vintage postcards with humorous or interesting handwritten messages, focusing on international travel and military mail.
I recently created a highlights page (https://lostgreetings.wordpress.com/kates-favorites/ ). Do you have something similar on your blog? I’d love to see how other bloggers are showcasing their favorite posts.
    Thanks and happy blogging!

    1. hi lostgreetings! The topic of your website is really interesting and personally I think the interactive map is a great gadget. Right now I haven’t done any showcasing of my fav posts, but the way you do it, is absolutely making sense…

  2. Hi there! I just recently started writing again after a long hiatus and I am a little mad at myself for ever stopping because I am finding so much joy in it! Anyways, I’m a bit out of creative practice and would love some feedback on my writing. Just posted a new blog today, I would love any feedback at all and I’d be happy to return the favor!
I am currently traveling down the U.S. inland waterways from Chicago, IL to Mobile, AL on our boat with my fiance, so most of my posts right now are about that.

      1. Hey I really like your blog! The pictures are very colorful and I think that’s one of the best things on your blog. You might consider having a header photo or something like that.
Anyhow, good luck and happy blogging! 🙂

      2. I like your blog posts. ur easy flowing style of writing. I did miss a like button at the end of each post. Also if I may suggest that maybe making a read more buttton at the end of each post so that people dont have to scroll through entire posts (although your posts are not that long) to get to the next.

Keep going though- and goodluck with your blog. 🙂

    1. Hey I just wanted to say, I think this is a really cool post, but I feel like it’s a little too short to have so many external links. I found that I’d click on each link to see what it is and I’d end up getting distracted from the original post I was looking at. But that might just be me.
Anyhow, I just wanted to say that I like your blog and wish you good luck! 🙂

    1. Such an inspiring post. The hopes you have for your children also applies to us, grown ups. I got the lesson behind the word… never forget about the child inside you. Listen to it, follow it and you will be grateful, happy and in peace. Thank you for sharing this lovely post.

    1. Hi Laura! I really like your blog and think you’re doing great work. I really liked your 2017 update post and I thought it made for an excellent overview of everything on your blog. I was going to suggest that you consider pinning it to the homepage of your blog so people get a good idea of what the posts are like immediately, but you’ve got that “Hello Lovely!” section and I think that summarizes the site just as well.
      PS Great pictures!

    1. Hey I enjoyed reading your recent post, well written. Your blog layout is also really good though I have a few suggestions. Maybe you could add a few more widgets to the side bar to amp up the look of your blog !
Other than that, everything looks great.

      Keep up the good work
Feel free to check out my blog as well

      1. Thank you for your comment! I really don’t classify myself as a “passionate” baseball fan. But sometimes, I like to watch some with my friends. I tend to just follow scores and support the Blue Jays as I live in Toronto. I am honoured that you will watch the sport because of my post! That really means a lot to me! Thank you!

      2. It was a massive year for you and the fanbase! I know I was watching the games last year. Good luck for the playoffs! Unfortunately, we won’t make it this year, but last year, the Jays were playing well too!

  5. Happy Monday! Great to be dipping my toe back in the community pool! I want to share a blog I wrote this morning in response to all of the controversy going on in the NFL right now. I typically try to stay away from anything political, but felt moved to discuss my experience of attending a game yesterday. I think it shows a different perspective than we normally see which is one that goes a little more towards the middle. https://markymarcsworld.wordpress.com/2017/09/25/the-game-is-what-matters-trump-vs-the-nfl/

I also wrote a blog last week that was a response to a blog a fellow blogger posted on their site last week. It was almost like giving advice to my 18 year old self. https://markymarcsworld.wordpress.com/2017/09/19/dont-get-into-a-serious-relationship-until-youre-in-your-30s/

Any and al feedback would be appreciated! Thanks!
