To learn more about blogging, take a Blogging U. course.
To find, copy, and paste your link:
Head to your blog’s home page — not your dashboard, your blog itself. Click on the title of your post to open the individual post.Highlight and copy the URL you see in your browser’s address bar, and paste the entire URL into a comment here.
Welcome to First Friday, a weekly open thread where any new blogger can share a link to his or her very first post with the larger WordPress.com community. To share your first post with us, copy and paste the link right into a comment here. If you’re not new, you can still be a part of First Fridays: visit a link or two, and leave the blogger a like or comment.
Please don’t use this as a space to share your first post…. that you published three years ago; ditto for simply sharing your latest post. Posts should have been published within the last month, and should be your first post. We’ll remove other posts to keep this space focused for new bloggers.
We ask that you help us keep this space focused by following a few additional guidelines:
- We encourage anyone who shares a link to visit a few other bloggers. New readers for all!
- When commenting, the third time is not the charm: don’t share the same link repeatedly, or in multiple First Friday threads. We’ll remove repeat posts.
- Link directly to your new post, rather than to your blog generally — it makes it that much easier for folks to like the post or leave you comments.
- Avoid repeated “Follow for a follow!” comments. (Tip: if you’re trying to build a readership, it’s much more effective to visit and comment on individual bloggers.)
- To keep from losing your place while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on links to open them in a new tab or window.
Currently blogless? You’re a click away from sharing your story.

Ok. Attempt #2. I’m writing a mental health blog that highlights different topics and resources in the hopes that it will help others. Topics so far have been grief and loss, grief in children and social media in teens. I need help figuring out how to get all of my blogs off the home page. Help!

Hello! I’m a college English major shamelessly writing about writing in order to give myself a platform on which to practice my writing skills and build credibility! I plan on doing monthly book reviews, and otherwise, just talking about all things storytelling, for better or worse! I’m just aiming to grow in my writing abilities! Right now, I post every Friday! Thanks for checking it out!

Looks like you haven’t given your site a title yet! If you’d like to add one (we recommend it), you can do that by going to My Site > Customize > Site Identity.

Hi everyone,
My name is Cael Sonata. I’m a freelance writer and self-published author. As a minority I’ve always struggled to find characters I could relate to that weren’t a side character or blatant walking stereotype. This led me to a love of writing and desire to bring women and minorities into the spotlight as main characters. On my blog I give insights on my writing process and post fun short stories based on the world of a novel I’m writing to give better insight and character development.
For my intro post I didn’t want to do something mundane so instead I wrote an rpg style character sheet to introduce myself. I hope you have as much fun reading it as I did writing it!

I am not sure if my new blog counts. I spun off a new blog, Cactus Haiku, on 9/13/17 but the ported haiku posts have the original dates from August. I started doing daily haiku on my original blog, RestructuringLife.net using the Daily Prompts. The haiku started to take over and didn’t fit the old name. Starting a new blog, I ported over my posts from the original blog using the export/import tools in wordpress, then erased the nonpoem posts. The posts kept their original date, comments and formatting. You lose likes, counts and featured images, tho. I added the counts and images back in — but you cannot re-add likes. The followers remain with the old blog — although I know most liked the poems, not the nonfiction. I changed the theme sidebar colors to white bg and turquoise text — giving a cleaner lighter appearance. I still need to write a new intro and about page–currently using the old ones with a note. Changing a name and “moving” is a pain but it felt necessary. The new blog is narrowly focused on the daily haiku / senryu which people say blogs are supposed to be focused. What do you think?

Hii! I have a question… Your rules state bloggers are within the last month. I’ve been writing for years but have elevated to Open Mic events and blogging. I consider myself a new blogger, however started November 16 of 2016.The next few blogs have been scattered throughout the last year. Most recent blog was Monday. I wish I would have known this resource was available and I’d really like to become more involved with other bloggers, as well as improve my consistency.

We’d ask that you head to the Community Pool, where any bloggers can give or seek feedback — we work hard to keep this space as focused as we can on brand-new folks.

It looks like you’ve deleted that blog — if you’ve started another, be sure to share that link, and add it to your profile! (You can do that at https://wordpress.com/me/public-profile/)

Thanks for the tip! Ummm… One question, how can I get my posts indexed by Google? Or how long does it take for a starting blog to be indexed?
LikeLiked by 2 people
It can take a few weeks as the beginning. There’s no way to force it, just keep writing!

One thing I noticed — you’re using a lot of tags and categories on some of your posts. The WordPress.com Reader actually filters out posts that use more than 15 tags and categories (combined) as an anti-spam measure, so using this many tags actually makes it harder for folks to find your posts, which is sad! If you cut your tags down to the most relevant, you’ll actually draw more readers.

Hi everyone!
I have only recently started blogging and am excited to be starting on this new journey.
I made my first post just on a month ago, but wasn’t aware of First Friday until now, so I hope it is ok for me to share.
Many thanks, and best of luck for your blogging adventures.

Hi everyone,
After several years of trying and failing (ask me how many times), I’ve started a new blog – again – and am hoping to stay motivated and update it regularly. I write speculative and literary fiction, music and poetry, and have recently begun experimenting with flash fiction through writing prompts. Here’s a link to my first post: http://wp.me/p9cbBa-4
I look forward to getting to know more writers here!
