Community Pool

Where bloggers come together to give each other feedback and advice.

Have you just published a new post and are dying for some feedback? Are you redesigning your blog and could use some layout or design advice from your more seasoned peers?

The Community Pool is for peer feedback and advice. Looking for more specific information? Check out some of these resources:

Tap into the wisdom of The Daily Post blogging community and leave your question here in the comments. Others can then click through and offer input either on your site, or in the comments here (feel free to indicate which you’d prefer).

Looking for free, self-guided courses to help you get started with your blog (or revive a dormant one)? Check out our current offerings at Blogging U.

To help us make the Community Pool a productive space for discussion, here are some tips and guidelines you might find useful:

  • While you’re not required to, we encourage everyone who requests feedback to also reply to at least one or two other bloggers who need some help. Spread the love!
  • The Community Pool comments section can get quite big — and starting duplicate threads doesn’t help. Thanks for not posting the same question more than once, as well as for not starting numerous threads in a single Pool.
  • If you’re looking for quality feedback, be as specific as you can. Questions about a particular post tend to draw more comments than ones about entire blogs. Questions about specific design elements are more likely to be answered than ones asking for general layout advice.
  • We discourage leaving links without a more substantive message or question. These are often overlooked by other bloggers, and we frequently remove them to make the comment reading experience smoother. Also note that including multiple links in your comment might automatically put it in the moderation queue, which will delay its publication.
  • Please keep all comments civil and constructive. The idea is to have fun — it’s a pool, after all!
  • To keep from losing your place in the comment thread while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on a link to open it in a new tab or window.
  • If you haven’t looked at our Commenting Guidelines in a while, now might be a good time.
  • No running on the deck.

Are you a new blogger looking to share your very first post? We have a special forum for bloggers just like you in our weekly First Friday posts.

  1. Hello Everyone,

I am a beginner blogger and I’ve quite a few posts. My blog is themed mainly around different things in life mostly involving parenting, saving money, recipes (in the future) and things of that nature. My latest post is about becoming a parent at a young age and knowing when to take a give advice. I’d like feedback on what I could do differently to get comments, followers or likes on my material. Basically how I can draw in more readers. Thanks have a great day! https://theladyqcom.wordpress.com/2017/07/11/the-struggling-parent/

    1. I liked this post a lot. I like the way you write and it is good to see that even though my children are older than you – the things I faced when they were munchkins are still the same things that young parents face these days.

As far as drawing in readers I think you need to put yourself out there. Search for blogs that involve the things you are interested in (i.e. parenting, saving money, and recipes). Read them, like them, comment on them, engage them in conversation and, follow them, You won’t just draw in readers, you’ll make new friends at the same time. Community, it’s not just a buzzword.

Sorry, I didn’t mean to be so long winded.

    2. What a fantastic read! For once I was quite excited to read and post on this topic! There is nothing wrong with having many interests/hobbies and or passions! I am the same way too. It just goes to show what a diverse, interesting, and fun person you are as an individual. Nothing wrong with that. I am also a female in STEM. I’ve always thought I would be doing something in the medical field but I ended up in the path of engineering. Which I do enjoy greatly and knowing what I do now, there’s no such thing as only one passion in life. I am an engineer as my main job but I am also a jeweler as well. My hobby job is jewelry and I LOVE it. I also love to travel. I love to eat. I love cooking as well. My other passion is being a crossfitter too. So what I mean to say is , you are doing absolutely fantastic and as a fellow female, I am quite proud of women like you who push themselves to be diverse in many things. That alone, gives you different perspectives in life. Seeing things from one point of view all the time can get boring. It’s nice to switch it up every now and then. Keep up the good job and thank you for sharing this post!

      1. Thank you so much for your kind words! If I don’t end up as a doctor, engineering would definitely be another option I’m considering. Making jewelry sounds so cool!

    1. Your writing style is very enjoyable. I personally prefer having a few photos break the text, especially for travel writing, but it’s only my preference, some others may feel it disrupts it.

      Keep it up!

  5. Greetings fellow bloggers,

Sometimes life gives more painful experiences than death. Pain is something that plagues & corrupts everyone’s life every now & then. At times we do feel helpless & broken but it is at this juncture in life when through the medium of this poem, I urge my readers to push through the pain, seek wisdom & fortitude from your misery. See pain as an opportunity to evolve as a stronger individual, embrace & celebrate it rather than getting bogged down by it’s negativity. Honest feedbacks would be highly appreciated :). The link of the poem is as follows:

    2. You talked about a very serious issue. It’s weird the way our society functions at times like if someone is facing physical injury they might support that person but in case a person is going through some psychological struggle then the society cold-heartedly mocks & degrades that person. Thanks for sharing such an insightful post! According to your convenience please do read some of my writings would love to know what you think about them 🙂

      1. Ah… there was only this “one small palm tree.” Maybe it wasn’t real, I’d have to ask my friends, but it was interesting that earlier in the day it was a nice sized island and then when we drove past it in the boat, the island was totally covered. I think that is why they have the palm tree there, so you know there is land there and you don’t run your boat into it. Thanks for the kind message. I’m heading over to see your blog. 🙂

    1. Hi Princess of Darkness, I appreciate your thoughts on how you had to chose between marriage and education. Btw, I have written on a similar topic but from a scholarly perspective – on how Ada Lovelace chose to become a scientist but within the traditional/repressive culture of her time. Hope it rings a bell: https://abravenewscience.wordpress.com/2017/02/03/the-paradox-that-is-ada-lovelace-the-motherof-computer-science/ All the best!
