Community Pool

Where bloggers come together to give each other feedback and advice.

Have you just published a new post and are dying for some feedback? Are you redesigning your blog and could use some layout or design advice from your more seasoned peers?

The Community Pool is for peer feedback and advice. Looking for more specific information? Check out some of these resources:

Tap into the wisdom of The Daily Post blogging community and leave your question here in the comments. Others can then click through and offer input either on your site, or in the comments here (feel free to indicate which you’d prefer).

Looking for free, self-guided courses to help you get started with your blog (or revive a dormant one)? Check out our current offerings at Blogging U.

To help us make the Community Pool a productive space for discussion, here are some tips and guidelines you might find useful:

  • While you’re not required to, we encourage everyone who requests feedback to also reply to at least one or two other bloggers who need some help. Spread the love!
  • The Community Pool comments section can get quite big — and starting duplicate threads doesn’t help. Thanks for not posting the same question more than once, as well as for not starting numerous threads in a single Pool.
  • If you’re looking for quality feedback, be as specific as you can. Questions about a particular post tend to draw more comments than ones about entire blogs. Questions about specific design elements are more likely to be answered than ones asking for general layout advice.
  • We discourage leaving links without a more substantive message or question. These are often overlooked by other bloggers, and we frequently remove them to make the comment reading experience smoother. Also note that including multiple links in your comment might automatically put it in the moderation queue, which will delay its publication.
  • Please keep all comments civil and constructive. The idea is to have fun — it’s a pool, after all!
  • To keep from losing your place in the comment thread while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on a link to open it in a new tab or window.
  • If you haven’t looked at our Commenting Guidelines in a while, now might be a good time.
  • No running on the deck.

Are you a new blogger looking to share your very first post? We have a special forum for bloggers just like you in our weekly First Friday posts.

  1. I may go against the grain here. I have been writing anonymously on other sites for some time. I decided the other day I should start up my own blog/website. My blog is anonymous, and I know there has been a list of anonymous bloggers in the past. What could set me apart from them? what could make me different? I realized at that point. Most anonymous bloggers write about their jobs, life, etc. It’s usually all negative and dark. I do like the idea of being able to say what I want with no filter, although, I do not want it to evolve around one topic. I guess what I’m getting to is that I want my blog to be different by not anonymously posting about one long rant over one topic. I want to have opinions on many different things and say what I want. I will take any advice I can get from veteran bloggers. I want to stand out as a popular name within anonymous blogging. I haven’t finished the blog layout completely there will be custom images and photography soon to come. It will also soon be a premium blog.. Just not as it sits right now.

    1. Hello! Pingbacks are just another name for adding a link to another WordPress.com blog — if you want to have your posts shared in a Daily Prompt or Weekly Photo Challenge, all you need to do is copy the prompt or challenge URL from your browser — for example, today’s prompt is https://wordpress.com/dailypost/prompts/infuse — and paste it into your post editor. When you hit “Publish,” the pingback is created. You can read a little more about pingbacks here:

    1. Hello Mehak,

I just did a quick review of your blog. Really have to say that I can’t tell that English is not your first language lol you are definitely fluent in it. That said, writing is really good! Keep it up 😉

Your blog’s layout fits everything and it’s clean so that’s definitely going to help with the visitor’s experience. However, I’m not sure if it’s just my screen but your banner (Top part that says “Live Life Queen Size” in white) is obstructing your “Menu” and I can’t see nor click on any of them aside from “Silence”, “To all the low minded people” and “Nature in *Something, can’t see*”.

If your menu is truly is being obstructed due to the banner, I suggest either removing the banner or changing theme. It might just be this theme being incompatible to your ideal design for the site.

Something else to take note of, an “About” page. Not sure if it is obstructed or not available but do take note that it is one of the most important page that can determine whether a new visitor stays or leave in their first visit.

People want to know who and what you and your site is all about. Let them know! Introduce yourself! You’ve got a great personality. Share it with the world!

So aside from that, nice use of images, which helps in immersion. Awesome.
Saw some awesome positive posts as well and I definitely appreciate that 😉

Hope these helped! If you’ve got questions or anything, do feel free to let me know bud!

    1. Hey bud, great article. Left a LONG respond to it in your comment section so do take a look and talk there as well XD

      Anyway, onto your blog review!

Your writing is definitely good. However, moving onto aesthetics wise, I gotta say that your site looks new. There’s quite a number of things to take note of such as a proper allocation of your about page.

      For starters, do this:
Remove your current “About page” from menu and replace it with your “About this blog!” blog post.
      To do that,
Click “Customize” under “Themes” – > Click “Menus” -> Select the menu that you are using – > Remove current “About” – > Add post and select your “About this blog!” post – > Save and voila!

You are clearly someone who has deep thoughts. I really appreciate that, as will many other readers who would eventually find you too, I’m sure.

Set your page up nicely and keep up the good work. You’ve got potential and will find yourself a following for sure if you keep at it!

Btw, if the instructions I gave earlier is too hard to follow or understand, fret not! I will be live streaming my weekly blog review session on this coming Mon/Tue (Depending on your time zone lol!) and I can guide you then and there via my own blog’s customization tool.

If it all comes down to that- I can and will show you step by step on how to make it all happen 😉

Anywho, hope this all helped and if you got questions, do let me know! If not, I will talk to you again soon bud!

    1. It would be nice to see something on your About page to tell us the purpose of your site. I looked at your first post. Since you’re asking for feedback on your writing, here is an edited version of one of your sentences. “One of the best things I did today is learn how to create a blog. It was great not knowing anything about it. I am still trying to figure out how I started this within a short period of time.” Notice that I broke it into smaller sentences and corrected a bit of grammar. You are off to a good start. Keep going 🙂 https://gracelead.co

    1. I agree with you that exclusion can be harmful to both the person excluded and to those doing the excluding. You can’t make people like you. What you can do is be kind to everyone and be yourself. Some of your sentences would be easier to read if you broke them apart. Here’s an example of one of your sentences broken into four shorter ones, “I will give you an example. Your group of friends go out of their way not to invite you to an evening event. You say nothing and you see pictures posted online of what a great time they had. You feel left out.” Keep writing. I think others will relate to your thoughts. https://gracelead.co
