Community Pool

Where bloggers come for friendly feedback and advice.

Have you just published a new post and are dying for some feedback? Are you redesigning your blog and could use some layout or design advice from your more seasoned peers?

The Community Pool is for peer feedback and advice. Looking for more specific information? Check out some of these resources:

Tap into the wisdom of The Daily Post blogging community and leave your question here in the comments. Others can then click through and offer input either on your site, or in the comments here (feel free to indicate which you’d prefer).

Looking for free, self-guided courses to help you get started with your blog (or revive a dormant one)? Check out our current offerings at Blogging U.

To help us make the Community Pool a productive space for discussion, here are some tips and guidelines you might find useful:

  • While you’re not required to, we encourage everyone who requests feedback to also reply to at least one or two other bloggers who need some help. Spread the love!
  • The Community Pool comments section can get quite big — and starting duplicate threads doesn’t help. Thanks for not posting the same question more than once, as well as for not starting numerous threads in a single Pool.
  • If you’re looking for quality feedback, be as specific as you can. Questions about a particular post tend to draw more comments than ones about entire blogs. Questions about specific design elements are more likely to be answered than ones asking for general layout advice.
  • We discourage leaving links without a more substantive message or question. These are often overlooked by other bloggers, and we frequently remove them to make the comment reading experience smoother. Also note that including multiple links in your comment might automatically put it in the moderation queue, which will delay its publication.
  • Please keep all comments civil and constructive. The idea is to have fun — it’s a pool, after all!
  • To keep from losing your place in the comment thread while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on a link to open it in a new tab or window.
  • If you haven’t looked at our Commenting Guidelines in a while, now might be a good time.
  • No running on the deck.

Are you a new blogger looking to share your very first post? We have a special forum for bloggers just like you in our weekly First Friday posts.

    1. I really like your blog! I like the idea of easy cooking too. My suggestion is that if you continue with hobby type of blogs like this, your pictures need to be crisp and clear. You’ve got so much wonderful things going on, so the bright photos would really illustrate it. I think the staging is almost there, you’re just right about the exposure. I look forward to reading more from you!

  1. Today we featured my very first guest blogger with her poem called Strangers. I would really love if you checked it out and supported her!

If you’re hungry and looking for a new recipe to try – check out my Friday blog about Honey Porter Glazed Chicken Skewers. They were amazing and pretty easy to make. Also featured in this post is the realization of how terrible I am at food blogging!

    1. Absolutely beautiful. I also loved your post “the flip side of wounds” there was a point in my life that your words reflect so well. I often reflect on that time in my life. While it is still a painful time in my past, I truly believe it allowed my passion to grow and mature into something more meaningful.

I write because I cannot express myself the way I want anyway except through words. On my blog I write about climate issues, because in so many ways, it is the best way for me to channel the frustrations I have. 1. I liked hearing what led you to become interested in Essential Oil. Your review of the book gave enough information for a prospective reader to decide if it would be a good fit for their needs. For me, the Young Living/do Terra comment didn’t seem to add value. Removing it could make things a bit more concise. https://gracelead.co

  3. The wonderful world of the WordPress blogging community.

I’ve not been on the scene long but I have read some fantastic and insightful pieces, and hope to be able to emulate that. Once I get the hang of it.

My blog was originally designed to be an insight into the mad world of my pooch Max. It has however, developed into more of a prologue prior to dog ownership. The expected ups and downs of being a dog owner.

Please check out my posts and see what you think. Constructive criticism is always welcomed.

  4. In the past week, I have implemented some changes in response to a blog reader survey I did last month.

I lightened my site colors and have played with fonts. I would appreciate feedback on the success of my design. As always feedback on content is welcome too. 🙂

I learn a great deal from my fellow bloggers and look forward from learning as I visit your sites as well.

  5. Hi everyone, been a while since I dropped in, but trying a new thing in author spotlights and just posted a cover reveal for a book on mindfulness and a journey through 17 years of depression to a top blogger on mindfulness and life coaching. Thoughts welcome and in the next few weeks I should be dropping a new blog theme for critique…scary times. Have a great Monday all X

    1. Hi. I took a peek. You need to fill in your About page with some pertinent information. Most bloggers won’t interact with an unknown. Where in the world do you live? Norway, Swaziland, Arizona, Brazil, the Philippines? You don’t have to give your city, but if it’s huge even that shouldn’t matter. A first name is nice, or a pen name.

I see you’ve installed a Recent Posts widget. You can install some on your sidebar, too like Archives, a list of Categories or a tag cloud, a blogroll to show which blogs you are following.

It also pays to have several topics jotted down or ideas for future posts. If you have a few posts ready to go, you won’t get stuck when life happens and you’ve no time to write for a few days.

      All the best.

  8. Hey there!

I recently updated my blog with a master list of all my posts for easier navigation to the stories and pictures you may be looking for. I wanted to do this so that it would be easier to find the parts of a specific story in order. For example, I just did a little bit on my story “The Agency,” where it has 3 parts right now. I also just published my most recent part for another story titled “A Change in Pace.” I believe the navigation is easier this way, but would love to know what your input is on finding the order of the stories. do you think this works and is easy to find?

Also, I am open and willing for any and all feedback about anything about my blog, including posts.. Don’t hold back!

  9. Hello everyone, I am new to this but it would be nice if everyone would check out my page. I don’t have much content now but there will be poetry, or just anything I feel like posting on here. I’d most likely post something twice a week, but I’d appreciate some support. Thank you
