New blogger? Welcome! Share a link to your first post, say hello to other new faces, and find your first few readers.

If you’re not new and are looking for support or feedback, the Community Pool is the place for you!For technical questions, visit the WordPress.com Support Forums.
To learn more about blogging, take a Blogging U. course.
To find, copy, and paste your link:
Head to your blog’s home page — not your dashboard, your blog itself. Click on the title of your post to open the individual post.Highlight and copy the URL you see in your browser’s address bar, and paste the entire URL into a comment here.
Welcome to First Friday, a weekly open thread where any new blogger can share a link to his or her very first post with the larger WordPress.com community. To share your first post with us, copy and paste the link right into a comment here. If you’re not new, you can still be a part of First Fridays: visit a link or two, and leave the blogger a like or comment.
Please don’t use this as a space to share your first post…. that you published three years ago; ditto for simply sharing your latest post. Posts should have been published within the last month, and should be your first post. We’ll remove other posts to keep this space focused for new bloggers.
We ask that you help us keep this space focused by following a few additional guidelines:
- We encourage anyone who shares a link to visit a few other bloggers. New readers for all!
- When commenting, the third time is not the charm: don’t share the same link repeatedly, or in multiple First Friday threads. We’ll remove repeat posts.
- Link directly to your new post, rather than to your blog generally — it makes it that much easier for folks to like the post or leave you comments.
- Avoid repeated “Follow for a follow!” comments. (Tip: if you’re trying to build a readership, it’s much more effective to visit and comment on individual bloggers.)
- To keep from losing your place while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on links to open them in a new tab or window.
Currently blogless? You’re a click away from sharing your story.

Welcome! FYI: that link goes to your dashboard, which is private, so people won’t be able to see your site. The simplest way to get the public link is to go to your blog’s main page and click on the post title. Then, copy the address you see in your browser’s address bar and use that. Really strong first post! 🙂 2 quick tips to make your blog look a little more lived-in:
1.) Upload a profile photo! It gives you a more personal, approachable feel.
2.) Include a short bio on your About page–this is the first thing I check on every blog I visit so I know who/what it’s about!
Good luck and happy blogging!!

Hi Sydney. Thanks so much for the feedback! I’m sure I posted a profile picture, but I will be sure to double check that. As for the About page- I’m still trying to figure that out myself! Lol! Thanks again for the advice. Kat x

Thank you for the tips, seeing this is my first blog I honestly am not sure if I’m doing it “right” or if there is a certain way of doing it. Some feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks a lot! https://wordpress.com/stats/day/everydaychoicesblog.wordpress.com

Luckily, there is no “right” way to blog — your blog is a reflection of you, so everyone’s blog will be different.
A few tips as you get started: That link goes to your dashboard, which is private, so people won’t be able to see your site. The simplest way to get the public link is to go to your blog’s main page and click on the post title. Then, copy the address you see in your browser’s address bar and use that. Here’s your site: https://everydaychoicesblog.wordpress.com/
Also, your blog still has some placeholder posts on it — stand-in posts that you’re meant to delete or edit. You can delete them by going to My Site > Posts.

Hi. Unfortunately, the link doesn’t work. It redirects me to a blank page.
In your preview window, you can right-click on the title of the post and open it in a new tab. Then you can copy the functional link. At least that worked for me…

Also, great posts! I think a lot of people think of the “male perspective” as simply being the default human perspective, but I like the way you’ve highlighted some scenarios in which being male really shapes certain life experiences. Keep it up!

This looks awesome! Just as a suggestion, you might want to consider briefly filling in your About page when you get a chance. It’s usually the first thing people look at when they visit a new blog so they can get a quick idea of what kind of content to expect from you.
PS Love the Maya Angelou quote on your home page ❤

I wanted to start a blog as a challenge for myself for 2017. I’ve started one trying to imagine what my puppy might have to say about each day:

and also one where I take a picture of something towards the end of my day:

Awesome, AWESOME first post! I think a lot of people can relate to that feeling of uncertainty in the world about what true happiness really is.
Quick tip: try uploading a profile picture to give online presence a more human touch. It doesn’t necessarily have to be a picture of you, but it’s better than having a default icon.
Good luck on your blogging adventure!

What is the tag line?
LikeLike
The tag line is an additional line of text that appears under the title. On this blog the title is “Pictures of Things” an the tagline is “Around the World in Fifty Nifty Millimeters.”
Most themes display taglines; a few don’t. They’re a nice way to give people a little more information about your blog and to pique their interest.
