The place for feedback, advice, and conversations about blogging.
Have you just published a new post and are dying for some feedback? Are you redesigning your blog and could use some layout or design advice from your more seasoned peers?
The Community Pool is for peer feedback and advice. Looking for more specific information? Check out some of these resources:
- Learn, a series of step-by-step tutorials for those just starting out.
- All our posts on building an audience and growing your traffic.
- If you’re stuck for inspiration, here are our Daily Prompts and other ideas for writing topics.
- A roundup of posts on blogging etiquette.
Tap into the wisdom of The Daily Post blogging community and leave your question here in the comments. Others can then click through and offer input either on your site, or in the comments here (feel free to indicate which you’d prefer).
Looking for free, self-guided courses to help you get started with your blog (or revive a dormant one)? Check out our current offerings at Blogging U.
To help us make the Community Pool a productive space for discussion, here are some tips and guidelines you might find useful:
- While you’re not required to, we encourage everyone who requests feedback to also reply to at least one or two other bloggers who need some help. Spread the love!
- The Community Pool comments section can get quite big — and starting duplicate threads doesn’t help. Thanks for not posting the same question more than once, as well as for not starting numerous threads in a single Pool.
- If you’re looking for quality feedback, be as specific as you can. Questions about a particular post tend to draw more comments than ones about entire blogs. Questions about specific design elements are more likely to be answered than ones asking for general layout advice.
- We discourage leaving links without a more substantive message or question. These are often overlooked by other bloggers, and we frequently remove them to make the comment reading experience smoother. Also note that including multiple links in your comment might automatically put it in the moderation queue, which will delay its publication.
- Please keep all comments civil and constructive. The idea is to have fun — it’s a pool, after all!
- To keep from losing your place in the comment thread while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on a link to open it in a new tab or window.
- If you haven’t looked at our Commenting Guidelines in a while, now might be a good time.
- No running on the deck.

That effect you get from snow falling in the featured image to the bottom is amazing. For your NY Resolution post look to deepen your meaningful resolutions by providing deeper context whenever as to why those resolutions are specifically important to you. This introduces greater stakes.

It takes a long time to build a blog and get views. Make sure to use tags effectively, and “swimming in the community pool” is a good start. Come here and share every Monday. Just be patient, and post a few times a week on somewhat of a schedule. It takes time. Good luck and happy blogging.

I honestly don’t know if there’s much else you can do with your blog to make it more visually appealing. My eyes are tired (typical scientist) and I could read it on a laptop screen just fine. You also use tags, but have you ever found other blogs/posts that use similar tags? Finding other like-minded bloggers could help grow your audience, you know?

Oh, it’s not so much about interesting content (you’ve got enough, it appears), it’s more about doing some legwork to find your audience. Not everyone knows how to do a tag search.
Seriously, I didn’t know how many science blogs there were on here until I learned how to do that…

I do search the cycling tags as well as others. Just have to wait and see for 2017!

So you *do* tag-search. Welp, yeah, then there really is not much else you need to do than continue doing what you’re doing. There’s maybe search engine optimization techniques, but *man* is that way beyond me…

Welcome to the WordPress community. We’ve got cookies…well, recipes for them. You’ll have to do the work yourself, sorry.
Anyway, now that you’ve got your blog set up, let out your blogging voice for the first time (feels good, doesn’t it?), now it’s time to spend an hour or two faffing about in the Customizer so you can get an idea of how your blog works, making sure your social media links go somewhere, perhaps a bit more on your “Ask” page (Would this be your “Contact” page instead?), maybe even play with colors? You’ll see when you just let yourself play.

My blog is justnormaljosh.wordpress.com, and I’ve been experimenting with different lengths of posts lately with my last two posts.
Also, please leave me some feedback on those featured posts on my blog! I’m trying to figure if I should do more posts like those.
Also, how is my image selection? I’m trying to create a ordinary neighborhood aesthetic (like in Kelly clarkson’s breakaway video lol).
Thanks and happy new year!

Your point is excellent. My favorite part was, “It may not have marble grounds, but definitely has moral grounds.
