If you’re not new and are looking for support or feedback, the Community Pool is the place for you!

For technical questions, visit the WordPress.com Support Forums.

To learn more about blogging, take a Blogging U. course.

To find, copy, and paste your link:
Head to your blog’s home page — not your dashboard, your blog itself. Click on the title of your post to open the individual post.

Highlight and copy the URL you see in your browser’s address bar, and paste the entire URL into a comment here.

Welcome to First Friday, a weekly open thread where any new blogger can share a link to their first post with the larger WordPress.com community. To share your post, copy and paste the link right into a comment here.

Posts should have been published within the last month, and should be your first post. We’ll remove other posts to keep this space focused for new bloggers. If you’re not new, you can still be a part of First Fridays: visit a link or two, and leave the blogger a like or comment!

We ask that you help us keep this space focused by following a few additional guidelines:

  • We encourage anyone who shares a link to visit a few other bloggers. New readers for all!
  • The third time is not the charm: don’t share your stuff repeatedly, or in multiple First Friday threads. We’ll remove repeat posts.
  • Please don’t use this as a space to share your first post…. that you published three years ago; ditto for simply sharing your latest post. These will be removed as well.
  • Avoid repeated “Follow for a follow!” comments or repeatedly replying to comments with your link; this is considered spammy. (Tip: if you’re trying to build a readership, it’s much more effective to visit and comment on individual bloggers.)
  • To keep from losing your place while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on links to open them in a new tab or window.

    1. Hi @eternalsoul25,

First Friday is really a space for brand new people to introduce themselves and meet one another, and for others to welcome and support them. As a blogger with a few posts under your blogging belt, I’d suggest checking out the Community Pool, which is where any blogger can seek feedback on any aspect of blogging.

    1. Welcome! FYI: that link goes to your dashboard, which is private, so people won’t be able to see your site. The simplest way to get the public link is to go to your blog’s main, public home page page and click on a post title. Then, copy the address you see in your browser’s address bar and use that. Here’s your site: https://nakedfaceblog.wordpress.com/

  1. Happy to part of the blogging community. I started my blog this week. I write and will be sharing podcasts on contemporary American social/political commentary, film and music, books, mass surveillance, race relations, economic stratification, and much more. Here is the link to my first post, any feedback and sharing would be greatly appreciated.

    1. Hi @kittyreadsandquotes,

You’ve shared a preview link to a post in your dashboard. That’s private, so no one can read it.

The simplest way to get the public link is to go to your blog’s main, public home page page and click on a post title. Then, copy the address you see in your browser’s address bar and use that. Here’s your site: https://kittyreadsandquotes.wordpress.com/

To create a pingback, include a link to the post you want to pingback to in your post. For any daily prompt, click on the “Show instructions” link below the prompt and you’ll see a link you can copy and paste into your post to create the pingback.

      1. This coming Friday, you can paste a link in a commen to the new post for “First Friday.” (We’re pretty strict about one invitation to comment on a first post per person.) A new “First Friday” feature appears each Friday at 12 noon Eastern.

In the meantime, if you’re feeling adventurous, you’re welcome to comment on the Community Pool, to seek feedback on any aspect of blogging.

  4. Hey guys…this isn’t my first post, but I haven’t been confident enough to share my writing before, even tho it’s always been online. I still feel nervous sharing them with friends cuz they’re extremely personal. So I’m just gonna quietly leave a link here and if it does something for you, do get back to me. Hope you have a great day and a greater life💜

    1. Hi there,

Please don’t share your site / posts repeatedly — we just delete the duplicates. The full guidelines for participation are in the body of the First Friday post. Thanks for understanding!
