The place for feedback, advice, and blogging camaraderie.
Have you just published a new post and are dying for some feedback? Are you redesigning your blog and could use some layout or design advice from your more seasoned peers?
The Community Pool is for peer feedback and advice. Looking for more specific information? Check out some of these resources:
- Learn, a series of step-by-step tutorials for those just starting out.
- All our posts on building an audience and growing your traffic.
- If you’re stuck for inspiration, here are our Daily Prompts and other ideas for writing topics.
- A roundup of posts on blogging etiquette.
Tap into the wisdom of The Daily Post blogging community and leave your question here in the comments. Others can then click through and offer input either on your site, or in the comments here (feel free to indicate which you’d prefer).
Looking for free, self-guided courses to help you get started with your blog (or revive a dormant one)? Check out our current offerings at Blogging U.
To help us make the Community Pool a productive space for discussion, here are some tips and guidelines you might find useful:
- While you’re not required to, we encourage everyone who requests feedback to also reply to at least one or two other bloggers who need some help. Spread the love!
- The Community Pool comments section can get quite big — and starting duplicate threads doesn’t help. Thanks for not posting the same question more than once, as well as for not starting numerous threads in a single Pool.
- If you’re looking for quality feedback, be as specific as you can. Questions about a particular post tend to draw more comments than ones about entire blogs. Questions about specific design elements are more likely to be answered than ones asking for general layout advice.
- We discourage leaving links without a more substantive message or question. These are often overlooked by other bloggers, and we frequently remove them to make the comment reading experience smoother. Also note that including multiple links in your comment might automatically put it in the moderation queue, which will delay its publication.
- Please keep all comments civil and constructive. The idea is to have fun — it’s a pool, after all!
- To keep from losing your place in the comment thread while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on a link to open it in a new tab or window.
- If you haven’t looked at our Commenting Guidelines in a while, now might be a good time.
- No running on the deck.
Are you a new blogger looking to share your very first post? We have a special forum for bloggers just like you in our weekly First Friday posts.

QUESTION: Anyone using WordPress app for Android? I have a draft in the wordpress app. I updated the post on my laptop and published it. Whenever I view the post on my mobile, it’s still written LOCAL DRAFT. My question is, if I delete the one on the mobile app, will it delete the published post as well? Thank you for the reply.
LikeLiked by 1 person
The post won’t get deleted once you published and even if it gets deleted you can restore it from the trash section.

Oh, ok. I didn’t know about the trash. I was afraid to delete it. If there’s a way to restore it, that’s good. Thanks! I’ll try it! =)

Gilian if you delete the App you will lose the draft if it is still in the local draft but if it is published then you will find it in your blog posts.

Hello, I enjoyed reading about your Braai, it’s a wonderful tradition. I wasn’t sure if this is intentional, so if it is then please excuse my ignorance, but I noticed that you don’t use ‘read more’ tags, so you might find that your stats wont really show you which of your posts are the most popular because it’s possible to read them in full from your home page. It also means that if (like me) someone reads the whole thing straight from the home page, then the ‘like’ button isn’t immediately visible, because you have to be in the article to see that, so you might find that you don’t get as many likes as you would, because people mostly won’t bother to go looking for it – which is a shame, because your posts are definitely ‘like-worthy’ 🙂 Anyway, it’s only a small thing, but it might make a difference to your stats and help you to know what’s popular with your audience. I hope you find some success in the blogging community this time around. Good luck!

Thank you very much for your comment. I definitely didn’t know about the read more tag. Apparently there is a lot to learn about blogging. I will definitely look it up and use it. Thank you again for your encouraging words and I am glad that you enjoyed reading my blog 🙂

No problem at all! When you write a new post (or edit an existing one) it’s one of the icon’s at the top of the page. It’s on the far right of the edit tools, there’s an @ symbol, which is for adding a contact form, and the symbol to the left of that is two bold lines with a perforated line in between, which is your ‘read more’ tool. If you click the point of your text where you want to end the preview, then click this button, it will add in a line to your post which will mark the end of the preview, so people will have to click the ‘read more’ button to take them to the full post. Always good to use it at a point of interest or suspense! … This is all assuming that all WordPress editor pages look vaguely similar, I’ve never really thought about it!

Keep going and be inspired. My suggestion is for you to think of a particular niche which you most love or is your passion of doing to your blog. Lets say travel, photography, lifestyle, poem, fashion, general, politics or anything. Strip it down to specific niche so you can focus more and can write more. It is only my suggestion, I hope it helps. Happy blogging!

Hi All, I’ve just come to the end of a series of posts leading up to my departure from NZ to the next destination on my agenda, this final post is a mixture of travel and the more emotional side of the journey, so if you’re interested in reading you can find that here: https://thetroublesometraveller.com/2016/11/20/1-week-the-final-chapter-maybe/
Alternatively, if travel and emotion isn’t really your thing, I’ve been a bit greedy this week and also added a post to my other fiction series “Observations of an Inanimate Object” here: https://thetroublesometraveller.com/2016/11/22/irresistible-me/

Hello, it might not be the right subject here but I don’t know whom to ask.
My question is How can I set up to show Summary of my post on Reeder Feed. I have chosen “Summary” for “For each article in a feed show” in the setting but it does not seem working??? Thanks for your help in advance.

Hello,
Posts in the WordPress.com Reader are shown in full (and have for several weeks now). More than a simple rss feed (which is what this setting was built to address), the Reader is a community hub and a place where other bloggers can discover your posts, and we wanted to make the reading experience better. I should note that each time someone reads your post there (by clicking on it and viewing the full post in the Reader), your site still gets a view. And your site is still a click away for anyone who’d like to explore more there.
