Community Pool

The place for feedback, advice, and blogging camaraderie.

Have you just published a new post and are dying for some feedback? Are you redesigning your blog and could use some layout or design advice from your more seasoned peers?

The Community Pool is for peer feedback and advice. Looking for more specific information? Check out some of these resources:

Tap into the wisdom of The Daily Post blogging community and leave your question here in the comments. Others can then click through and offer input either on your site, or in the comments here (feel free to indicate which you’d prefer).

Looking for free, self-guided courses to help you get started with your blog (or revive a dormant one)? Check out our current offerings at Blogging U.

To help us make the Community Pool a productive space for discussion, here are some tips and guidelines you might find useful:

  • While you’re not required to, we encourage everyone who requests feedback to also reply to at least one or two other bloggers who need some help. Spread the love!
  • The Community Pool comments section can get quite big — and starting duplicate threads doesn’t help. Thanks for not posting the same question more than once, as well as for not starting numerous threads in a single Pool.
  • If you’re looking for quality feedback, be as specific as you can. Questions about a particular post tend to draw more comments than ones about entire blogs. Questions about specific design elements are more likely to be answered than ones asking for general layout advice.
  • We discourage leaving links without a more substantive message or question. These are often overlooked by other bloggers, and we frequently remove them to make the comment reading experience smoother. Also note that including multiple links in your comment might automatically put it in the moderation queue, which will delay its publication.
  • Please keep all comments civil and constructive. The idea is to have fun — it’s a pool, after all!
  • To keep from losing your place in the comment thread while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on a link to open it in a new tab or window.
  • If you haven’t looked at our Commenting Guidelines in a while, now might be a good time.
  • No running on the deck.

Are you a new blogger looking to share your very first post? We have a special forum for bloggers just like you in our weekly First Friday posts.

  1. Hi guys, I would love to receive some feedback on my blog http://www.jessyroseonline.wordpress.com 😊 last week a lot of people said to clean up the format, so any comments on individual posts or the actual website itself would be so appreciated! I’m excited to hear from some interesting people 😊

  2. I’d like to invite everyone to stop by and check out a creative piece of narrated flash fiction, “N.Y.C.” I wrote it after watching a documentary on William S. Burroughs over a year ago. I thought it would fit in nicely with yesterday’s poem and tomorrow review of Junky. I cleaned the piece up, and posted it again. If you like it, please click the like button on the post page, and follow along for my poetry. Comments and feedback are welcome, and please leave them on the post page as well. Thanks in advance for reading.

  3. Hello Fellow Bloggers! I’ve been blogging for about two and a half months now and it has been quite the adventure to say the least. 🙂

My blog’s main focus right now is photography along with a few self-help posts. I would absolutely love some feedback on the blog itself: https://hagardiab.wordpress.com/

Thank you so much and good luck on your blogging adventure everyone!

    1. your photos are interesting and go well with your poems. very calming feel on your page, and I like that you include all parts of a pic (fall part 1 , pt 2, pt 3, etc.).
You’re very honest and open on your “about” page, but do you mean to use the saying “down in the dumps”? not down in the dumbs?

    1. I looked at your High School post. I like the ideas you presented. You began the post with several phrases instead of sentences. You might want to use complete sentences. For instance, ” A wonderful place to be.” would read better as, “High School is a wonderful place to be.” https://gracelead.co

  6. Hi there! I run a pop culture website and I’ve been going through my favorite movies recently, doing a series I call Personal Favorites. My most recent post goes through the Empire Strikes Back and what makes it one of my favorite films. I worry that the post is a little long-winded. I’d appreciate some feedback: https://popculturalstudies.wordpress.com/2016/11/22/personal-favorites-the-empire-strikes-back/

    Thanks, folks!

  7. Hello all!

I published this poem a little while ago (almost two weeks ago), but would really love to get feedback. I’m especially interested in feedback for this one, because unlike other poems this one failed to get at least one view.
I just started writing poetry for the first time in MANY years, so though I want to be true to myself (in terms of style), I’d like to get an idea of where my general flow is going wrong.

Any feedback at all is welcome (and feel free to read through and critique any other poems I’ve posted).

    1. I read your Thanksgiving post and appreciate your good advice. It would be easier to read the post if you broke it into shorter paragraphs. Your Home page is a bit stark. You might try letting your blog feed your Home page. You could put your welcome/about information on an About page. https://gracelead.co

      1. Thank you. Perhaps I will give that a shot. The only reason why I put it after was because I wanted people to see the photos first. I appreciate the feedback!

I took a look at your blog and I like it. It’s also well organized and I found your posts quite insightful. I had no idea that’s what parables meant haha. I also liked your About page. Your message and purpose is very clear. Great job!

  9. Hello everyone! I recently started a blog to showcase some of my writing and photography. I plan on posting about many different topics, all which interest me and are a large part of my life. Please give it a read and let me know of anything you see that I may be able to do differently, that you like, that you don’t like, or just a random comment! I will read yours as well and share some feedback as well.

      1. Thank you. I’ve been providing sources, as I want people to look this stuff up themselves. I want people to see for themselves what’s going on. Believe it or not, our society in the midst of committing collective suicide, in the face of an enemy that’s made it their mission to wipe us out. This isn’t about individual Muslims, there are more than 1.6 billion of them, they can’t all have the same motivations. This is about Islam itself, and what it teaches. That’s why I provide sources and seek to answer counter arguments before they arise.

  10. Hello all Techy-heads

I’ve got a very specific question about moving from a wordpress.com site to a self hosted wordpress site. Can anyone help me? Its about the ‘reader’ – I can still access that, but through my now defunct wordpress.com site. Is there another way?
Also, is it possible for people to ‘follow me’ through their reader or it is now only possible to have new subscribers through their email?
I’m finding it very, very difficult to get answers to these sort of questions now (I have loads of others like this too!)
My new website is http://www.wordsandleaves.com. My old site was http://www.penguinedition.wordpress.com

Thank you if there’s anyone out there!
