Have you just published a new post and are dying for some feedback? Are you redesigning your blog and could use some layout or design advice from your more seasoned peers?

The Community Pool is for peer feedback and advice. Looking for more specific information? Check out some of these resources:

Tap into the wisdom of The Daily Post blogging community and leave your question here in the comments. Others can then click through and offer input either on your site, or in the comments here (feel free to indicate which you’d prefer).

Looking for free, self-guided courses to help you get started with your blog (or revive a dormant one)? Check out our current offerings at Blogging U.

To help us make the Community Pool a productive space for discussion, here are some tips and guidelines you might find useful:

  • While you’re not required to, we encourage everyone who requests feedback to also reply to at least one or two other bloggers who need some help. Spread the love!
  • The Community Pool comments section can get quite big — and starting duplicate threads doesn’t help. Thanks for not posting the same question more than once, as well as for not starting numerous threads in a single Pool.
  • If you’re looking for quality feedback, be as specific as you can. Questions about a particular post tend to draw more comments than ones about entire blogs. Questions about specific design elements are more likely to be answered than ones asking for general layout advice.
  • We discourage leaving links without a more substantive message or question. These are often overlooked by other bloggers, and we frequently remove them to make the comment reading experience smoother. Also note that including multiple links in your comment might automatically put it in the moderation queue, which will delay its publication.
  • Please keep all comments civil and constructive. The idea is to have fun — it’s a pool, after all!
  • To keep from losing your place in the comment thread while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on a link to open it in a new tab or window.
  • If you haven’t looked at our Commenting Guidelines in a while, now might be a good time.
  • No running on the deck.

Are you a new blogger looking to share your very first post? We have a special forum for bloggers just like you in our weekly First Friday posts.

    1. Your blog site is beautiful. And I really liked learning about sleep paralysis – that’s new for me. A couple of times I was a little confused – maybe an editing error? Not sure. The length & inclusion of the video were both good.

      1. Thank you for those kind words! It’s a subject many don’t talk about because of the frightening nature. The video inclusion was on a whim. Thanks for the feedback! I will check out yours as well.

      2. Your page looks very clean, but you could benefit from some sidebar widgets that allows others navigate your page a little better. I would suggest a “recent posts” “top posts & pages” or something along those lines. It will bring more readers and they won’t have to scroll down to read your posts.

      3. One thought on Dilemma, you don’t have to add P.S. at the end of your post. Let the readers come to their own conclusion. It makes the story more powerful and leaves people guessing. Overall, great story. Emotion was entailed and the writing was superb.

    1. Lisa, loved your blog. Looks like all is sorted at your end. Good theme and great pictures to go along. You seem to be a pro at this.
Do take a look at my blog and let me know what you think. I am still relatively new at it and will appreciate all the feedback.

  1. Hello Everyone,

I’ve done a few posts, however I’m still a novice to the blogging world so would love you’re feedback on my posts and what you think of them.

      1. Thank you for you’re feedback, yes originally my username was same as my website; however I eventually changed it as I wanted a slight change.

Regarding the images depends which ones you refer to; few of them I took myself, one of them is from a Daily prompt challenge; and the last few are taken from online. Hope that helps.

        Thank you

    1. Hey there…just saw your blog. Looks like you know your genre well. I don’t have comments in the content since I am a novice in the field of tech. May be considered changing the font of “gadget savage” on the header. The swirly handwritten type doesn’t go with the feel of technology! Also consider adding the share buttons at the end if each post. I don’t see them everywhere now !!
Do you mind having a look at my blog and giving me some feedback. I recommend the design section to you.

      1. I poked around your blog for a bit, reading a few posts. It seems very much like a public journal, which I commend you for– I’m actually terrible at keeping a journal. ^^; Your theme is very bright and cheery, which is nice, but I’d play around with the colors. It’s a bit hard to read some of the text over the daisy background in the sidebar. Good job!

  2. Hi guys! Would some feedback on a new page I’m starting. It’s called The Poet’s Point. It is a community in which artists can share their work, get feedback, and inspire others. It’s a perfect place to overcome writer’s block, share your thoughts, test new content, gain an audience, and meet artsist from around the world.
Feel free to share your work and/or give others feedback! (Doesn’t have to be just poetry)

  3. Wow, it is so very good to be back in the Community Pool once again after it had disappeared for a week; Well, anyways, it sure looks like this very first month of my newly-named blog, KALEIDOSCOPE, has very much gone by with as much promptness as possible…The response for my blog’s makeover had been moderately tremendous, and it seems to me that it could only get a little better-I have just finished my draft for my top-secret project that I had been working on for as long as I possibly could, and hopefully I shall bring you more details about this project somewhere along the line. In the meantime, I had just published some brand-new posts today, as well as other posts that I had published in the past few weeks, including some yummy ideas for such dessert suggestions for occasions such as fall and the Jewish holiday Rosh Hashanah; I even published a nice little history of a certain island town called Chincoteague, Virginia, as well as another post about fan theories that (THANKFULLY)never saw the light of day, along with others that I had also published in response to WordPress’ own one-word prompts, plus I added some YouTube videos as well! I plan to bring you a whole lot more COLORFUL fun to KALEIDOSCOPE in the days, weeks, and months to come; And as always, please always be sure to check out my blog at http://www.j2w7.wordpress.com! 4. Hi guys! I have updated my blog to match my tagline…GEEK.MOTHER.WRITER. I have just posted my first “real” parenting (MOTHER) piece (about Mom Guilt). Would love some feedback! Also, I have some beautiful 360 degree panoramic views of Mars from photographer Andrew Bodrov on my latest SPACE ODDITIES post if you would like to check it out. Thanks!

    1. I really like your blog! You have such a fun perspective. My only complaint was that is was difficult to find your about page (which is what I always look at first), but it’s not hard to figure out who you are from your posts. 🙂 Followed and am looking forward to seeing your posts!

    1. If this is a new theme you’re using, I’d say keep it! It looks good so far, real clean and make things look really organized which is really pleasant for the eyes to experience.

Nothing negative that I can bring up though so I’ll just end this little “Review” here. Hope it helped!

Btw, just found a photo of you on your “Guitars” page, rocking it out hah! Looking cool 😉

I just took a quick look at your site, but I will take some time later in the day to look at it in more detail. Cheers, Steve

      2. Hi again, i’ve been checking out your site, and can only applaud your efforts – these days more than ever, when the world seems so volatile, its so refreshing to encounter a young man doing something positive.

I watched the ‘me and my shadow’ video, your friends english accent was awful 🙂 But the singing was great. By the way, I took my late mother to see Frank in concert in London in the late 70’s for her 50th birthday, what a concert, what a guy!

I can’t see anywhere where you say your nationality, but being quite well travelled, I can usually guess, so I’m guessing Indonesian, but could be way wrong – apologies if thats the case. Anyway, I’ll be following your antics with interest, and which you all the best. Cheers, Steve

    1. (Tried to reply to this from my phone but not sure it worked so sorry if this is a duplicate!) I enjoyed your post; it’s something we all need to remember. I would have liked to have known what it was that made Avery call you a bleeding heart though; it would have lent a personal note and also I’m just nosy. Your blog is very pretty!

      1. Thank you so much, I definitely agree we can all be a little kinder to one another. I intentionally tried to keep this post a little less personal so as not to appear braggy and keep from sounding a little too much like “I’m an awesome person for doing this and that and the other thing”. But check out my other posts, I’m very open about my life!

    2. Hey bud checked out your blog and I really liked it, especially the ones with your pet dog, Stella XD

Found no issue with your writing but I did realize that you don’t have an archive section up and I’d recommend adding one so that it’ll be easier for future readers to access your older posts.

Oh yeah and great photos and images implementation on your articles 😉

Hope this helped and talk to you again soon Marissa!

    3. Your post is well-written and your thoughts come across in an orderly way. In your last sentence, “more enough” should be “more than enough.” Other than that, the grammar looks good. The style seems sincere and friendly. I think your post is a good reminder to be a bit more outward-focused in our approach to life. https://gracelead.co

    1. Just stopped by! Looks like most of your recent posts are just images. Consider adding some text to go with them — it doesn’t need to be a lot 🙂 A few sentences with the “thought of the day” images may help. Also, it looks like you’re not using categories and tags. You can use up to 15, and they help people find your blog. Try things like “cops” or “Joke” on the meme about the cop taking your license.

    1. That was a fitting tribute to Community Pool. The tips were helpful also. I did notice that your second sentence, “Not only..” is not a complete sentence. As you noted in your post, you strive to give feedback to several people each week. Perhaps the moderator should give you a special badge to put on your swim suit 🙂 https://gracelead.co

      1. We don’t have any special badges to offer to our regular Pool contributors (though that would be a neat idea to consider!), but I’d like to nonetheless express my never-ending respect and gratitude for all that both of you (paminat0r and Natalie) bring to this community.

    1. Hey bud so I checked out your blog and found it really interesting how you’ve managed to get so many followers via blogging with what most ppl usually do but in your own flair.

Mind if I ask which type of your posts are the most popular? I’m guessing the poems?

Anywho, your site looks great bud. You’ve obviously spent a lot of time on it and I definitely wanna give you credit for using the images in certain posts for further illustration and readership immersion!

Just a feedback though, I had some trouble finding your “About” page till I decided to click on the “Get In Touch” tab and realize it’s actually your about page. Just sharing cause most ppl look for it first in their first visit to a new site 😉

But now i have to change my focus from it. thanks be in touch Benjamin

    1. Just stopped by! I noticed that many of your posts don’t have images — blogging is a very visual medium, and blogs with pictures tend to have more traffic and perform better than those without. Might be worth considering in the future!

We have vastly different views, but I don’t see that as a bad thing. It’s good to be able to read various opinions and get to know how other people choose to live their lives. Blogging is a great tool for that.

      1. You’re absolutely right, our views are quite different. It’s also true that this isn’t a bad thing. Everyone absolutely has a choice in how they live their lives. That’s what God intended. My job is to make people aware of the choice they’re facing. I’ll also cover current events and toss in a bit of humor for good measure.

      2. It seems like the art of discussion has been lost over the years — that two people with vastly different views can no longer sit down and discuss their ideas, even debate them, without becoming angry, mean, or defensive. It’s a lost art! Glad we peek into each other’s lives and remain civil 🙂 Rock on!

      3. That’s something I’ve often lamented. No one knows how to disagree properly anymore. I mean, I’m from a very large, very argumentative family, so it comes naturally. However, so many snowflakes out there just dont have the first clue, and it’s just maddening. It’s always a relief when I can find someone who isn’t a precious, fragile little snowflake.

      4. Disagreeing is such an important skill. Too bad they can’t teach a class on that in high school or college! I wonder how many interpersonal issues this skill could solve…?

    2. I read your post on how to read Scripture. From my perspective, you did a nice job giving some key tips for understanding what it says. I see you still have work to do with your layout: (1) Replacing your Header image with one that better matches your content (2) Putting a few words on your About page to tell us the purpose of your site (3) Deleting the Contact Me page if you don’t plan to use it. https://gracelead.co

    1. Just commented! Good use of tags, good use of images. I also had trouble making the pop-up disappear — the “close” bit is super hard to read. It might be better if you remove it altogether? That’s up to you, of course, but when I had a pop-up, I found it annoyed people more than encouraged them to sign up. It’s tough.

    2. I preferred the brain blog. It reminded me of a book I’ve read called crucial conversations. We see or hear someone do something (right brain) and we tell ourselves a story about what that means (left brain). The authors describe a method of telling the person what you saw/heard and the story you told yourself and then asking the person how things appear from their perspective. I have a downloadable summary on the Book Summaries page of my site: https://gracelead.co

    1. In your post on Dilemma, you did successfully describe the dilemma. Also, the emotion came through clearly. It would be easier to read if you improved the grammar. For instance, “plead them” should be “pleaded with them.” You might want to try an app such as hemingwayapp.com to check grammar. https://gracelead.co

I really enjoyed your post on ‘Dilemma’. Your writing is very powerful.

I was drawn in by your name ‘little me’ with the heart….but then I don’t see this anywhere on your site page. I would love to see this theme pulled through.

Also, when I started writing the spell and grammar check really helped me out.

      Thank you for sharing!
