Community Pool

The place for feedback, advice, and friendly blogging chatter.

Have you just published a new post and are dying for some feedback? Are you redesigning your blog and could use some layout or design advice from your more seasoned peers?

The Community Pool is for peer feedback and advice. Looking for more specific information? Check out some of these resources:

Tap into the wisdom of The Daily Post blogging community and leave your question here in the comments. Others can then click through and offer input either on your site, or in the comments here (feel free to indicate which you’d prefer).

Looking for free, self-guided courses to help you get started with your blog (or revive a dormant one)? Check out our current offerings at Blogging U.

To help us make the Community Pool a productive space for discussion, here are some tips and guidelines you might find useful:

  • While you’re not required to, we encourage everyone who requests feedback to also reply to at least one or two other bloggers who need some help. Spread the love!
  • The Community Pool comments section can get quite big — and starting duplicate threads doesn’t help. Thanks for not posting the same question more than once, as well as for not starting numerous threads in a single Pool.
  • If you’re looking for quality feedback, be as specific as you can. Questions about a particular post tend to draw more comments than ones about entire blogs. Questions about specific design elements are more likely to be answered than ones asking for general layout advice.
  • We discourage leaving links without a more substantive message or question. These are often overlooked by other bloggers, and we frequently remove them to make the comment reading experience smoother. Also note that including multiple links in your comment might automatically put it in the moderation queue, which will delay its publication.
  • Please keep all comments civil and constructive. The idea is to have fun — it’s a pool, after all!
  • To keep from losing your place in the comment thread while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on a link to open it in a new tab or window.
  • If you haven’t looked at our Commenting Guidelines in a while, now might be a good time.
  • No running on the deck.

Are you a new blogger looking to share your very first post? We have a special forum for bloggers just like you in our weekly First Friday posts.

    1. I’m so curious about flash fiction! Two hundred words leaves no space for wasting. I enjoyed yours and am going to give it a shot on my writing site soon, too😀 Thanks for the inspiration.

    1. Hey there!
I appreciated the time I spent on your blog. I enjoyed that it focuses on positivity in such a specific way, and your about page is short, sweet, and creative. The concept of looknig for today’s perfect moment is wonderful. Keep on writing! Check out my blog about authentic living, thankfulness, and satire at: https://wondersinthewind.wordpress.com

    2. I think you should also outline what genres you enjoy (unless you like all of them) because just seeing the book covers on your blog doesn’t really help me understand what it is you like about them.

      1. I am looking for recommendations. I think a good book is a good book regardless of genre. I am hoping to find something that I wasn’t expecting, so there isn’t any reason to specify genre.

    1. You are a funny one. I also struggle with sleep. I recently downloaded an app onto my laptop that blocks blue-light waves during late evening hours. The idea is that blue-light waves energize our brains and keep us awake. Perhaps you can find an app that would work on your phone. https://gracelead.co

    1. I like the photos without borders better on your blog. I also can see a line on your logo that maybe isn’t meant to be there. Overall very good. Maybe specify more clearly what kind of food blog you are and specialize in

      1. I just visited your blog and it’s quite visually pleasing! Everything is in dark tones, makes me think of early morning. How do you get your quotes to have those beautiful quotation marks? It’s lovely.

      2. Thank you so much. I experimented with different looks and liked this one the best. It reminds me of my grandmother’s kitchen. As for the quotations… it is easy…. in the WordPress writer, there is an icon (double quotation symbol) that will add quotes to any highlighted text. I don’t think it is specific to my theme, but in case it is, I am using the Penscratch theme. Let me know if it works out for you. Cheers!

    1. Awesome start!
Just a thought: consider uploading a profile photo and filling in your “About” page so your readers can get to know you better. I like to know the blog I’m reading is run by a living, breathing, human being with their own personality. (I’ve read a few of your posts, so I know yours is lovely.)
