To find, copy, and paste your link:

Highlight and copy the URL you see in your browser’s address bar, and paste the entire URL into a comment here.

Welcome to First Friday, a weekly open thread where any new blogger can share a link to his or her very first post with the larger WordPress.com community. To share your first post with us, copy and paste the link right into a comment here. (If you’re not new, you can still be a part of First Fridays: visit a link or two, and leave the blogger a like or comment!)

Please don’t use this as a space to share your first post…. that you published three years ago; ditto for simply sharing your latest post. Posts should have been published within the last month, and should be your first post. We’ll remove other posts to keep this space focused for new bloggers.

We ask that you help us keep this space focused by following a few additional guidelines:

  • We encourage anyone who shares a link to visit a few other bloggers. New readers for all!
  • When commenting, the third time is not the charm: don’t share the same link repeatedly, or in multiple First Friday threads. We’ll remove repeat posts.
  • Link directly to your new post, rather than to your blog generally — it makes it that much easier for folks to like the post or leave you comments.
  • Avoid repeated “Follow for a follow!” comments. (Tip: if you’re trying to build a readership, it’s much more effective to visit and comment on individual bloggers.)
  • To keep from losing your place while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on links to open them in a new tab or window.

    1. I just read your blog, left a comment and followed. I see potential you just have to keep writing. That’s key. Remember us little people when you become a famous writer 🙂

    2. Loved the post about your experiences of living with anxiety, particularly describing it as a puzzle and its great to read someone writing about it so positively. Keep going!

  1. I just started blogging last month. My blog is about my move from Kansas to Nevada. I talk about virtually anything from thoughts, life and experiences. I just want fresh eyes on my blog so can get it the way I want it. Is it visually appealing? Is it too cluttered? Do I need to make changes? Are there some things I need to add? Please let me know if you want I can look over your blog as well. https://meetmeinnevada.wordpress.com/

    1. You have got some good stuff going on ! It looks good so far…my dynamic with my sibling is also polarising. I did relate to that one… Hopefully you will have a good time in Nevada…keep blogging . Cheers. 💟

    2. I really like your opening page and about post! I could totally relate to thinking the best medicine was to just put your thoughts down! I think it’s visually appealing, and I really like your logo!

      1. That’s better. The overall look of your blog is pretty crisp. You’ve written a lot of poetry already, but your front page is starting to get pretty long. May I suggest either a “Read More” function on your posts (revisit each post, put a “Read More” line somewhere using the editor)? It’s tedious, but may be necessary with your current theme.

Alternatively, and this is more drastic, but perhaps a different theme that shortens up your posts for you? This will allow for room for more posts without too much scrolling, and as a bonus, it gives the reader just a taste of what’s in the blog post (the Read More function will do the same anyway). If they want more, they’ll just have to click on the link to read more.

  2. Hello and welcome, new folks! We’re really excited to meet you.

As usual, I just want to remind everyone that we moderate the comments on First Friday pretty heavily — this is really a space for brand new people to introduce themselves and meet one another, and for others to welcome and support them. If you’re not here to either share your (recent) first post or leave a supportive comment, please head to the Community Pool, which is where any blogger can seek feedback on any aspect of blogging. And if you’re not sure what the guidelines here are, please read the above post — or just ask!

    Happy blogging, y’all:)

      1. Thanks very much 🙂
That is about the same time I had when I first learnt Italian and I got a a fairly good grasp of the basics then. Nothing like going to Rome and being able to listen to all the conversations around you and know what is being said. After that there is no turning back!

  3. I decided to restart my blog this month; it had been 2 years since I thought about doing it. Life got complicated and it wasn’t the right time for me to be sharing. I’ve re-found my passion for writing and I am currently working on a project that I hope to have published on my blog by the end of this month.

    1. Nice blog. For what it’s worth, I’m 41 and still don’t know what I want to do when I grow up. I’d be interested in following your journey but couldn’t find a follow button. Feel free to check my fairly new blog out.

      1. Just read your post “If I could, I would”, it’s beautiful 🙂

I was having that same trouble earlier, for me it popped up the bottom right corner while I was scrolling up and down 🙂

Look forward to reading more of your posts!

  4. Hi all I’m very new in blog writing, and yet not understood its mechanism properly. I posted a blog-post yesterday and few blog-pages some month ago. They contains a very little number of views, whereas most-others not only contain a huge number of responses, they are present in a completely different “format” (probably this is being called a thread), where a vast number of peoples posted their articles.

I want to share 1 particular article (by me) to more readers, which is https://rajarshirit.wordpress.com/2016/08/18/modernitys-scourge-in-education/ . How could I do that if anyone give me some guidelines.

I’ll be glad if someone visit this post. Thanking all.

    1. I think it’s about finding an audience. I’m also new and don’t get many views at all. What about doing some daily word prompts for a while? For those, you’re probably best doing smaller pieces of writing as you need to do them on the day of the word prompt. I’ve been getting between 5-20 views for my. Not much at all but better than nobody reading them. Good luck.

      1. Thanks. I saw many posts, where a single post contain a serial writings by more-than one writers. However thanks for informing me, “For those, you’re probably best doing “. Btw I’m quite busy and can’t read all other blogs carefully. Maybe this is the fact for all others. However though I rarely stay online, I try to post only some good and necessary-one, which I can’t but post. Thank to you and all. All the best wishes.

      1. I would consider having longer previews of your posts on your Blog page. It cuts off after a few words, leaving the reader unsure of the content of the rest. I think a bit of a longer teaser would draw more people into each post!

  6. Hello fellow new bloggers! I started at the beginning of August. I’m using my background on Wall Street to give parents tools to talk to their children about money and ways to give them a leg up in life. I also share my experiences of being a father to 3 children.

Please let me know what you’d like to read about in future posts. Can’t wait to check out your blogs!

  8. Hi, I’ve been blogging for a couple of weeks. I’d be interested in peoples views on a blog that doesn’t have a specific role? For example my first post was about Children and I meant to be my main focus. I’ve been doing more creative writing. Do people find it off-putting, not knowing what a blogs purpose is, with no specific target audience? First post: https://amileinmyshoes.co/2016/08/08/20-free-or-cheap-outdoor-things-to-do-with-the-kids-this-summer/

    1. Hey, I just started my blog a few weeks ago also. Thoroughly rate your first post 👏🏽 left a comment and will be following you also regardless of your blog not having a specific topic/target audience. I think its a good thing. We as people have various interests and experiences so I think its nice to see a blog that reflects that. I set out for my blog to help me gain confidence in my creative writing and poetry and so far its primarily been more journal/self help type content. Have a look and feel free to follow me back if you fancy 😉 https://beingis.wordpress.com All the best ✌️💛

When I click on my page there is no follow button and someone replied to my comment today saying they were unable to follow on my page..?? x

  10. Hello blogging community! I started my blog “Atrium of Words” just 11 days ago. I would like for you to visit, read and comment on my writing. I’ve been writing since a teenager, but thanks to an editor’s advice I decided to have my own personal blog as a space to express myself.

Check out my first post here: https://atriumofwords.wordpress.com/2016/08/08/people-say-im-rich/

Thank you for bringing me the opportunity to share. ❤

    1. Looks like you haven’t actually published any posts yet; all of yours seem to be drafts — you might want to share once you have a post!

I also noticed that your blog still has a lot of the placeholder content on the home page and widgets — if you feel like you could use a little more help with the ins and outs of WordPress.com, there’s a really useful “getting started” tutorial here: http://learn.wordpress.com.
