Have you just published a new post and are dying for some feedback? Are you redesigning your blog and could use some layout or design advice from your more seasoned peers?

The Community Pool is for peer feedback and advice. Looking for more specific information? Check out some of these resources:

Tap into the wisdom of The Daily Post blogging community and leave your question here in the comments. Others can then click through and offer input either on your site, or in the comments here (feel free to indicate which you’d prefer).

Looking for free, self-guided courses to help you get started with your blog (or revive a dormant one)? Check out our current offerings at Blogging U.

To help us make the Community Pool a productive space for discussion, here are some tips you might find useful:

  • While you’re not required to, we encourage everyone who requests feedback to also reply to at least one or two other bloggers who need some help. Spread the love!
  • The Community Pool comments section can get quite big — and starting duplicate threads doesn’t help. Thanks for not posting the same question more than once!
  • If you’re looking for quality feedback, be as specific as you can. Questions about a particular post tend to draw more comments than ones about entire blogs. Questions about specific design elements are more likely to be answered than ones asking for general layout advice.
  • We discourage leaving links without a more substantive message or question. These are often overlooked by other bloggers, and we frequently remove them to make the comment reading experience smoother.
  • Please keep all comments civil and constructive. The idea is to have fun — it’s a pool, after all!
  • To keep from losing your place in the comment thread while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on a link to open it in a new tab or window.
  • If you haven’t looked at our Commenting Guidelines in a while, now might be a good time.
  • No running on the deck.

Are you a new blogger looking to share your very first post? We have a special forum for bloggers just like you in our weekly First Friday posts.

  1. I recently posted a blog about decisions and changes you’ll come across as a new believer in Christ. I would love to hear from those who have been there if you feel that this info would have helped you then. Thanks!

    1. Hey, go to Settings -> Reading and there should be a section where the options are “Full text” and “Summary”. You want “Summary”. (PS. I have a self-hosted WordPress blog but I think it’s the same for wordpress.com stuff!)

      1. Hey! I think I know what you’re talking about. You’ve got to do this while your post is being edited. The button you’re looking for is the “Insert Read More Tag” button. It’s on the same row as the Bold/Italic options and it’s the one to the left of the @ symbol button. It will insert a “Read More” tag wherever your cursor is. I’ve used it in most of my posts so you check it out to see if we’re talking about the same thing. Feel free to go through the posts as well and any positive feedback is appreciated! 🙂

      3. No problem! 🙂 It’s such a coincidence that I came across your question right now because my latest post (that I posted minutes ago) has a postscript where I’ve mentioned that I haven’t yet added a “Read More” tag to it! Funny. 🙂

  4. Hello, Community Pool!

Well, I’ve got a question about blogging for you all but before I could remember to post it here, I turned it in to a post and it’s too big for a comment anyway, so could you guys have a look at this post and please help me out? Feel free to go through the rest of the blogs, posts, and let me know what you think! Help a fellow blogger out! Thanks 🙂 https://thecommonplacechronicles.wordpress.com/2016/07/29/how-about-a-posting-schedule/

    1. Here’s a verse to consider. “There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus.” (Gal 3:28) That doesn’t mean we are identical. It means God values us equally.

  5. Hey Guys! So… I started this blog a LONG time ago but just recently got into blogging more…. and I am not sure I am doing the whole blogging thing right. I am linking my most recent post… Does the formatting look fine? Where do you guys get most of your pictures from? I feel like my site is somewhat boring because of the lack of colors and fun formatting… Let me know what you think and if you have any suggestions! Also, how do I get my blog more out there? Thanks!!

  8. I would love some feedback on my blog 🙂

I just had the opportunity this week to do my first Blog Tour Book Review and have just published an exclusive interview with MK Williams the author of Nailbiters…

    http://soztheo.me/2016/07/30/the-world-according-to-mk-williams/

I’ve been blogging for a few months now, this is my second attempt at a blog, and it has been particularly frustrating, fitting it all in, maximizing my time between this “I hope it can be more than a hobby”, and life… Take up has been slow, it is a personal opinion blog, but I am painstakingly trying to offer a unique voice 🙂

  11. Hi everyone,

I am a travel blogger and am back from a jaunt to the Himalayan state of Himachal Pradesh in India. I fell in love with the apple orchards, kittenish mountain rivers and the snow capped mountains. I noticed a whole lot of coffee shops in Old Manali and decided to write about one of them. Please read it here:

And feel free to leave comments, feedback and remarks.

    Keep blogging,
    Cheers!

    1. Your site is visually pleasing and the posts are upbeat and easy to read. I noticed on your most recent post that you have a large number of tags. If you want WordPress to include your post in their Reader, you’ll need to keep the Tags+Categories for the post to 15 or fewer. As your number of posts begins to grow, you may want to put each one in a category and display the categories in your menu. This would be convenient for those readers who may prefer certain of your topics/categories. https://gracelead.co
