If you’re not new and are looking for support or feedback, the Community Pool is the place for you!

For technical questions, visit the WordPress.com Support Forums.

To learn more about blogging, take a Blogging U. course.

To find, copy, and paste your link:
Head to your blog’s home page — not your dashboard, your blog itself. Click on the title of your post to open the individual post.

Highlight and copy the URL you see in your browser’s address bar, and paste the entire URL into a comment here.

Welcome to First Friday, a weekly open thread where any new blogger can share a link to his or her very first post with the larger WordPress.com community. To share your first post with us, copy and paste the link right into a comment here. If you’re not new, you can still be a part of First Fridays: visit a link or two, and leave the blogger a like or comment.

Please don’t use this as a space to share your first post…. that you published three years ago; ditto for simply sharing your latest post. Posts should have been published within the last month, and should be your first post. We’ll remove other posts to keep this space focused for new bloggers.

We ask that you help us keep this space focused by following a few additional guidelines:

  • We encourage anyone who shares a link to visit a few other bloggers. New readers for all!
  • When commenting, the third time is not the charm: don’t share the same link repeatedly, or in multiple First Friday threads. We’ll remove repeat posts.
  • Link directly to your new post, rather than to your blog generally — it makes it that much easier for folks to like the post or leave you comments.
  • Avoid repeated “Follow for a follow!” comments. (Tip: if you’re trying to build a readership, it’s much more effective to visit and comment on individual bloggers.)
  • To keep from losing your place while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on links to open them in a new tab or window.

  1. …turn my thoughts into actual compositions, regardless of length. Alright, my stupid finger had to press the send button too soon 😂 But feel free to drop by!

    1. I think your latest poem is very interesting, a new take on the selfie. A quick question, in the last line did you mean “monogamy” or “monotony”?

    1. Congratulations on taking the first step 🙂 It seems that you will be writing about your personal life, If I may suggest something it would be to add photos of something in your daily life…the cats maybe? the coffee table? Good luck!

      1. Thank you for the input! I will be sure to include photos that correspond with my posts. Makes me feel old and out of touch, but I wasn’t even sure about how to do this until today. Thank you for taking the time to suggest this!

  3. Hello and welcome, new folks! We’re really excited to meet you.

As usual, I just want to remind everyone that we moderate the comments on First Friday pretty heavily — this is really a space for new people to introduce themselves and meet one another, and for others to welcome and support them. If you’re not here to either share your (recent) first post or leave a supportive comment, please head to the Community Pool, which is where any blogger can seek feedback on any aspect of blogging. And if you’re not sure what the guidelines here are, please read the above post — or just ask!

    Happy blogging, y’all:)

    1. So it’s going to be like a journal-come-travel blog? If you dedicate yourself to writing up every destination or weekend thing that you decide to try, your blog is going to fill up quick.

      Here’s to you, young traveller.

    1. Nice. Your promotional blurb is really sharp. I also started my blog to promote my novels (as yet unreleased). I’ve found that it’s a good idea to include posts that are not about your novel in the blog. Writing tips, personal stories in writing, that kind of thing. It adds a personal touch to your blog and helps your readers to get to know you.

    2. Congrats! I’ve in the editing phases of my first novel as well and am researching lit agents as well as thinking of the self publishing route. If you have any tips, I’d love to hear them! Cheers

    1. Welcome! FYI: that link goes to your dashboard, which is private, so people won’t be able to see your site. The simplest way to get the public link is to go to your blog’s main page and click on the post title. Then, copy the address you see in your browser’s address bar and use that. Here’s your site: http://thecommercecode.wordpress.com/

    1. I’d recommend updating your ‘About’ page. I read your post ’22’ and this might be a good one to post on ‘About’ because it tells readers who you are, but more importantly, they’ll really get a sense for your style and voice. Do what you want, but most readers want an introduction either to you, the author, or to what your blog will be about.

    1. I read your post and found it very inspirational. I feel the same way a lot of the time, too. Have you ever thought about writing a book? Based on your descriptions and emotions in your blog, I think you would be very good at it 🙂
Also, I love your theme! It definitely adds some feeling to your blog. I suggest maybe adding a BLOG section in the menu so that it’s easier for people to find your posts. Otherwise, I think you definitely have something to share and talk about! Keep blogging!

      1. Thank you! Being a new blogger it can be kinda scary when you don’t get any likes, so thanks for the love 🙂 Make sure you keep checking in for writing posts!
