Community Pool

The place for feedback, advice, and friendly blogging chatter.

Have you just published a new post and are dying for some feedback? Are you redesigning your blog and could use some layout or design advice from your more seasoned peers?

The Community Pool is for peer feedback and advice. Looking for more specific information? Check out some of these resources:

Tap into the wisdom of The Daily Post blogging community and leave your question here in the comments. Others can then click through and offer input either on your site, or in the comments here (feel free to indicate which you’d prefer).

Looking for free, self-guided courses to help you get started with your blog (or revive a dormant one)? Check out our current offerings at Blogging U.

To help us make the Community Pool a productive space for discussion, here are some tips you might find useful:

  • While you’re not required to, we encourage everyone who requests feedback to also reply to at least one or two other bloggers who need some help. Spread the love!
  • The Community Pool comments section can get quite big — and starting duplicate threads doesn’t help. Thanks for not posting the same question more than once!
  • If you’re looking for quality feedback, be as specific as you can. Questions about a particular post tend to draw more comments than ones about entire blogs. Questions about specific design elements are more likely to be answered than ones asking for general layout advice.
  • We discourage leaving links without a more substantive message or question. These are often overlooked by other bloggers, and we frequently remove them to make the comment reading experience smoother.
  • Please keep all comments civil and constructive. The idea is to have fun — it’s a pool, after all!
  • To keep from losing your place in the comment thread while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on a link to open it in a new tab or window.
  • If you haven’t looked at our Commenting Guidelines in a while, now might be a good time.
  • No running on the deck.

Are you a new blogger looking to share your very first post? We have a special forum for bloggers just like you in our weekly First Friday posts.

  1. This morning I went outside on my back patio and took a photograph to go along with a short creative piece I wrote about early summer in the mountains. I’d love for anyone to stop by and look and read, and any and all feedback on either the photo or writing, or both is welcome. Please leave all feedback on the post page. Thanks in advance for reading.

    1. Great theme! It looks very organized and the pictures with a small excerpt idea is great. All the pictures look yummy and now I really want cinnamon rolls.

      1. Hello Michelle! Right now my most specific question is layout. How does my blog look and feel. Should I reconstruct the theme I chose? Thank you so much!

    1. The link was not hyperlinked on the second one so I couldn’t get to it. On thegoddiaries, I think the content is excellent. I’m a fan of written prayers. I like the look of the site. It would be nice to have an About page that tells the purpose of the site. Another consideration is whether you want to keep all your posts on your Home page. In Settings, you can specify the number of posts at a time that you want to show on your Home page. https://gracelead.co

      1. Hi JD, Your site looks awesome. I like the wide range of topics you cover. My only suggestion would be to make your “like” button more visible. I tried to “like” your posts, but couldn’t find it (could be me, wouldn’t be the first time WP has thwarted me). Knowing your “likes” helps you to understand which topics your readers are drawn to, that can come in handy for future posts. I really liked the photography and layout, your reading has character and flows very well. Awesome blog!

    1. I agree. Leave a link to a specific post. Having said that, it’s a very helpful blog. As a dog owner myself I think you are doing a good job by sharing your experience. I would suggest that if a post is running too long, try giving it more pictures or break it into parts.

  2. Hi, there…Truly, here. Perhaps you’d do me the favour of reading/commenting on my most recent post…(June 11/16) “Glad-less Night and the Dips”. As is my creative writing style, this piece is a blend of whimsical insights/confessions, clever wordplay, and (old school) pop references. I believe that wit, wisdom, flubs, and sharing growing pains are great tools for connecting and contributing to the positivity that spurs to us to be our best selves. And, I will be happy to read and comment on your offerings as well 🙂 Take care 🙂

The Imagination Leaks series has been collecting a bit of digital dust, so if you could take a look at, it’d be much appreciated! Feedback will be reciprocated!

    1. That was a fun rant. Your first sentence grabbed my attention with humor. Overall, you write well. I have only one suggested change. In the second paragraph, I recommend that you change “As in;” with “For instance,” to make a complete sentence. My favorite part was your wish that we all consistently practice the “simple action known as proofreading.” https://gracelead.co

    1. That was informative and fun. I wonder about the people who sit around and invent these gadgets. If you are going to do infomercials, we’ll need to see you demonstrate the gadgets. I think you could show us alternative uses for each one that would surprise and amaze us 🙂 https://gracelead.co

  5. Hey bloggers!! (lol I am forever typing bloogers!)
I have two requests, first and foremost my format – right now I have my blog posts but I think I have too many other pages, thoughts on this? Second, my blogs – what do you think? Are the interesting? Do I need more humor?
Thank you so much for your time, I look forward to hearing from you.

    1. I don’t think you have too many pages. On your posts, you might want to put a Read More tag after the first paragraph in each one so scrolling is easier for your readers. The Read More is available in the editing options menu when you create/edit your post. https://gracelead.co

  7. I’m sure all of you must have heard about the devastating hate crime carried out in Orlando, just yesterday.
Read this and educate yourself about the seriousness of the situation; such hate crimes cannot be tolerated anymore.
