Community Pool

The place for advice, feedback, and friendly blogging chatter.

Have you just published a new post and are dying for some feedback? Did you recently start your blog and could use some layout or design advice from your more seasoned peers?

Tap into the wisdom of The Daily Post blogging community and leave your question here in the comments. Others can then click through and offer input either on your site, or in the comments here (feel free to indicate which you’d prefer).

To help us make the Community Pool a productive space for discussion, here are some tips you might find useful:

TIP: To keep from losing your place in the comment thread while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on a link to open it in a new tab or window.

  • While you’re not required to, we encourage everyone who requests feedback to also reply to at least one or two other bloggers who need some help. Spread the love!
  • The Community Pool comments section can get quite big — and starting duplicate threads doesn’t help. Thanks for not posting the same question more than once!
  • If you’re looking for quality feedback, be as specific as you can. Questions about a particular post tend to draw more comments than ones about entire blogs. Questions about specific design elements are more likely to be answered than ones asking for general layout advice.
  • We discourage leaving links without a more substantive message or question. These are often overlooked by other bloggers, and we frequently remove them to make the comment reading experience smoother.
  • Please keep all comments civil and constructive. The idea is to have fun — it’s a pool, after all!
  • If you haven’t looked at our Commenting Guidelines in a while, now might be a good time.
  • No running on the deck.

    1. I have read your post. Try to put a photo, or just simply keep on writing. I think the post is already good, as it is.

  1. Hello! Wow, it is taking so much discipline to get a proper blog together. I don’t think I realized how much forethought and time it would take I hope that it continues to grow and be useful 🙂 I’m learning to write down my thoughts as they come up so I don’t go blank by the time I sit down to type. Here is my art-specific blog ❤ Thanks for checking it out!

    1. Fantastic piece, and really got me thinking. That’s been one of the best things I’ve read on wordpress 🙂
I’m off to Ethiopia in a few months to try to counteract brain-drain and promote a global mentality for scientific research… so that post was putting into excellent words a lot of the things that have been in my head lately.

I look forward to your future posts!
      Cheers,
      Em

  2. Hi everyone,

I’m fairly new to blogging and looking for ways to improve my blog.

I write about my experiences as a 1st time mother and recently got feedback from a friend that I need to give “tips & advice” in my posts also to keep them short.

Also, is it advisable to change one’s theme? While I like the colour and fonts my theme has, it’s restrictive in changes I can make to it.

Pls visit my page and would really love some feedback from you guys. thanks!

    1. I really like your writing, it’s nice and snappy and keeps the readers interest.

Plus in my opinion the theme is good, but I say change it until you’re perfectly satisfied… I changed mine a couple of times.

I have no idea how you find the time to write so well with that cheeky little bubba around 😛

      1. You have no idea what impact ur view has on me! I’m surprised as well how I find the time but it’s something I really enjoy…

I might just leave the theme cos I like it too, only it doesn’t have a lot of functionalities so I could change my mind an hour from now😃
