Have you just published a new post and are dying for some feedback? Did you recently start your blog and could use some layout or design advice from your more seasoned peers?

Tap into the wisdom of The Daily Post blogging community and leave your question here in the comments. Others can then click through and offer input either on your site, or in the comments here (feel free to indicate which you’d prefer).

To help us make the Community Pool a productive space for discussion, here are some tips you might find useful:

TIP: To keep from losing your place in the comment thread while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on a link to open it in a new tab or window.

  • While you’re not required to, we encourage everyone who requests feedback to also reply to at least one or two other bloggers who need some help. Spread the love!
  • The Community Pool comments section can get quite big — and starting duplicate threads doesn’t help. Thanks for not posting the same question more than once!
  • If you’re looking for quality feedback, be as specific as you can. Questions about a particular post tend to draw more comments than ones about entire blogs. Questions about specific design elements are more likely to be answered than ones asking for general layout advice.
  • We discourage leaving links without a more substantive message or question. These are often overlooked by other bloggers, and we frequently remove them to make the comment reading experience smoother.
  • Please keep all comments civil and constructive. The idea is to have fun — it’s a pool, after all!
  • If you haven’t looked at our Commenting Guidelines in a while, now might be a good time.
  • No running on the deck.

    1. Hello!
What immediately caught my attention was the simplicity of your blog. I personally like minimalistic presentation. It’s neat and concise. I also enjoyed the poem you wrote. It’s very thought out and I can tell it comes from a personal place. I encourage you to keep writing. The only thing I would suggest is if you put up an “About me” page so that viewers can connect with you more personally. Other than that, you’re doing great 🙂 It would be awesome if you could also give me some feedback and critique anything about my blog. I would be very thankful 🙂 Cheers!

      1. Well, what a great compliment.

        Thanks a ton,
from your comment i can sense your taste in design and graphics .

Yeah, as i read in your latest post,
you love reading, writing, nature, photography, music, traveling,

i too love all of them to varying degrees of course,

and i somehow believe some sort of combination of these (aesthetic) things make us fall in love with the ideology of minimalism.

        No distraction, just brilliantly plain.

        Simple but magnificent.

Yup, the poem was a result of some of my life’s experiences and what i see around, part of it came from what i read and heard time and again.

But, a movie finally inspired me to finally bring into one place.
(That movie being, “Wreck it Ralph”)

And now thanks for the most constructive part of your comment,
        the feedback,
thanks for pointing out about placing the about page,

well i had one set up, but i changed the theme recently,
the last one was also minimalistic but had some problem with wrapping text,
(text went out of view, or overlapped content out of the text region)

        so time to move on.

I will set up the about page and related stuff right away after i finish this valuable comment.

And now the most crucial part, the Feedback,

well, i simply cannot move on without applauding your photography skills.

Seriously, at first i saw the ones on the intangible emotions,
but then i scrolled down a bit as i was keen to see more of your photographic artwork,

and boom, the pics from the post, Seattle, Portland blew off my mind.

        Man, seriously speaking,
if i one fine day i get a chance to meet you,
i would love to share and learn some of the photographic experience.

i am yet to read some decent amount of your writing, so more on that in your individual posts later.

Your blog’s theme is decent, crystal clear, nice,

and i don’t know why, it’s is a personal preference,
but i think it would really help if you increase the font size of the main body text,

it is just easy on the eyes,
i just did it recently, and i don’t know how to do the same for older posts, but still,

your readers will thank you for that,

and your main body text’s font is great,
so in order to enhance you blog’s beauty,

you can clearly get way far by the ‘Font’ used for the title of your posts,
try out digging in the different free fonts available under customization,
you can thank me later about that. 😉

Apart from that, everything’s going great,
just keep on doing whatever you do.

And man this might be getting long,
but i can’t keep myself from saying it once again,

        i fuc*ing love your photography,
        i really do,

        so explore dream discover.

        I’m following you, (pun intended)
        So, catch you soon, brother.

      2. Wow. I think you gave the most meaningful and constructive advice I’ve ever received. You went beyond what was necessary and I’m grateful for that.Thank you so much.
I enjoyed your posts and we seem to have a similar eye for things. I love minimalistic things because like you said, simple is beautiful. And thank you for complimenting my photography work. I honestly think it’s not good enough but I appreciate it 🙂 Definitely going to follow you as well!
I’m looking forward to interacting with you more as we grow as bloggers!

      3. I am glad to help you.

Come on man, don’t underestimate yourself, of course you are going to improve to a great extent,

but you have an eye for what it takes to be a photographer,

And yeah, man, we will catch up time and again on each others’ posts.

        Nice talking to you.

  1. Hungry for some healthy meals? Hi guys. 9 months ago I decided me and my husband were changing our eating habits and would be living a healthier lifestyle so I started my blog a few days ago as a place to store and share my recipe ideas. I’d love for you all to check them out and try them! Feedback would be awesome.

  2. Loved it. Love the concept and idea of the blog and I want you to go for it. I am definitely going to give you a follow 🙂 I would appreciate it if you could also take the time to give me some feedback? Any sort of advice is welcomed 🙂 I think the only thing I’d suggest is if you updated your “About me” so viewers can understand and connect to you on a more personal level. Other than that, I think you’re doing great 🙂 Best of luck to you!

  3. I know I’m very late to the Pool today, so I don’t know how many of you will read this, but this is me inviting you all to participate in my monthly blogging event called Monthly Look Ahead. Here was my August post explaining it (https://coolbeans4.wordpress.com/2015/07/31/monthly-look-ahead-august-2015/), but basically it’s just you sharing the big or little things you’re looking forward to in the coming month. I post on the last day of each month, so if you’re interested, post with me this Wednesday!
    Thanks, and Happy Blogging! 🙂

      1. It was impossible to look at your blog without sending a link to your webpage because the comment section of the community pool doesn’t enable just clicking your name.

    1. The only thing I’d be concerned about is, how likely are people to scroll all the way to the bottom to see your widgets? I would also recommend adding more visible options to follow your blog.

  6. Hey Community,

Have had some challenging stuff happening around us in South Africa this last week and so two semi-linked posts i’d love your eyes on:

[1] In response to the #IAmStellenbosch campaign which was an attempt by students at a local university to bring unity by expressing individuality on placards, which failed quite dismally and got a lot of backlash i wrote this piece questioning who educates the ignorant and is responsible for informing the mis- or uninformed?

I am Stellenbosch [and other stories we tell our kids before they go to bed]

[2] Then my friend Nicky and i have been jumping on trains and having conversations with people and taking their pictures if they’ve been up for that for an up and coming photo exhibit she will be doing and for my blog somewhere along the line – got around to writing my intro piece to give everyone a taste of the experiment which has been SO INTERESTING:

    Sitting with people: Intro

If you can take a look at one or both of those that would be amazing – will definitely visit some blogs this week and leave some marks
    Keep on

    1. Hello,

the concept behind both your posts are absolutely brilliant however there’s a few things with execution that I’d like to point out.

I think what you write will carry more weight with capitalising your ‘I’s and perhaps choosing a theme that isn’t as attention-grabbing as what you have now. That being said, if you’re just blogging for yourself, or like what you’re doing right now, take what I said with a grain of salt and keeping doing you 🙂

      1. Ha ha thank you Maggy. The i is my intentional thing i do actually to remind me to stay small. I am in the process of moving my blog to a less cluttered easy to read format so you are spot on there. Appreciate the thoughts and feedback.

      2. Ha ha. My nickname is Fish and i have the word tattooed on my arm also with a small i – inspired by a verse in John 3.30 where John the Baptist says of Jesus, “He must become bigger, i must decrease.” I absolutely love the idea and try to live it out.

    1. hi, I’m not a food blogger but I did take a quick look at your blog and I really like how there’s some context/background/story to your recipes that’s written in an engaging way.

That definitely has helped/will help you reach more people 🙂

      1. Thanks Maggy! Of course, my blog is open to everyone, not only to food bloggers (I should be more specific!).
Thank you for your feedback and feel free to pass by anytime! 🙂
PS: you’re your “Lenny’s Oranges” post!

    2. I’m a food blogger too, and a pretty weird one at that.
I like the overall look of your blog but there are two things that kind of bother me: the tag cloud, and the fact that you have to click the Older Posts button each time you want to see another recipe (that part is a little annoying, oh well!).

      1. Hello Leisel!
Thanks for your feedback. You know, it kind annoys me too! I was thinking in changing the click on “Older Posts”; I guess now is the right time 🙂
I get now when you said you are a weird food blogger, but nevertheless, a really interesting one, may I say!

  8. Hello, there! How are you?
I’m great thanks. I recently converted my blog (http://heathernotes.com/) into a travel, outdoorsy, biological science-y photo-blog. I’m trying to find my niche and who I am as a blogger. When I think of my future blog, I think of it being a photo-blog that documents where I go, do, and see. Any ideas? Thoughts? Comments?

  9. this is my first attempt at creative non fiction coming from a background of opinion/essay writing & poetry so I’m wary about certain parts being too flowerly and other parts being too bland but I’ll leave that for you guys to judge.

honestly any feedback would be hugely appreciated and also don’t be shy to ask me to look at anything in return, always happy to be more exposed to talent in the community! 🙂

    1. Hey,
I think first, you should try and figure out a general theme of what you want to blog about. Once you find that, keep posting and experimenting. Eventually, you’ll find your groove 🙂 It also helps making an “About” page so that viewers can connect with you on a personal level. I wish you the best of luck 🙂
